Anyone stayed in Vias, south west coast of France

We're looking at staying on Club Farret this summer with DD who's 2. We'd go in early July so not school hols and are looking for somewhere with a good beach and a large village/small town to walk to. Don't want it to be completely tat-town, but somewhere that's just a nice seasidey place with a street to wander along in the afternoon and a reasonable selection of places to eat for DD's tea and a drink/snack for us. Does Vias fit the bill?

I've been there, but on a canal boat. Vias village itself is prob a 20 minute walk from the beach, and there is not much there. On the road towards the seafront there are some bars and restaurants - and i think a water park. As i remember it's mostly campsites along the seafront. The beach is nice. It wasn't exactly a "resort" though. The town we liked best was Le Grau de Roi, up the coast a bit. Built up round the edges, but the town is quite pretty and the beach is fab. Agde is nice too.

Vias Plage is lovely. We have stayed at the Siblu site La Carabasse twice, and would look at Club Farret another year.

There are some nice restaurants, well priced, and not a lot else (odd gift shop etc) and the sea is safe for Toddlers.

If you fancy more action, Cap D'agde is nearby with loads going on.

DH love the local Wine Cave - we bring back over 100 bottles in the estate car

Definately an area I recommend.

Thanks for that.

Milliways - I haven't heard of Siblu before but have just looked up their website and they look pretty good; I take it you'd recommend them? We went with Eurocamp last year which were fine but pretty basic - but then again we essentially lived outside.

I would recommend them, and we have used them many times. They are cheaper than Keycamp/Eurocamp/Canvas but more expensive than Matthews - who only have a few sites but we we use them where possible.

I think there is more going on at Club Farret. If you have young children then the kids clubs at Siblu are great - they own the whole site so the clubs are big and kids make friends. The evening entertainment can be fun - Butlins in the sun type stuff.

La Carabasse has access to the beach via a walk through a vineyard, or you can drive. Other sites have direct/closer beach access but onto the much busier beach further round.

We would go back.

Hi, we've booked to go to Club Farret with Eurocamp in May so was interested in your comment about the wine cave. Could you let me know where this is.

Thanks

Jo

It is in Vias Village itself. Only small on the outside, but you can taste everything then buy in bulk

We asked the rep onsite the first time we were in the area.

Thanks for that, we'll give it a try. Can you buy the wine in those mini barrels to decant later?

Probably - not sure really. We bought in bottles as they come packaged in boxes of six and nicely lined the boot of the Volvo
