Camping in November

Is it do able? I know it's going to be cold and possibly wet, other than it getting dark early surely it can't be any worse than a wet summer weekend....can it?

emmmm! I would camp near a hostel so you can escape if you need to. I love this time of year in the country but want hot tea and crumpet by the fire at the end of the day. Now thinking about it I have camp in November while doing DOE as an adult volunteer I had a great time but it didn't rain as much as it has this year! Oh the memory does fad when you get older!

In theory yes, but it would be very cold, and when I get cold I get miserable.

We camp at Easter and trust me it is very different from a wet summer weekend!!! Its really much much colder at night than during the summer months. At Easter the temp regularly drops to 4 or 5 degrees at night. We still do it then and its fun but you need lots of blankets, thermals, mats, hats , gloves etc. Also if the weather during the day isn't going to be good then IMO its just not worth it.

I thought we could if the weather was dry and just take loads & loads of layers and go to bed early.

I've camped in Nov and Feb in UK. It was good if you don't mind being cold! We piled the tent up with duvets and had a roaring camp fire before hitting the sack.

Why.....well it'll be the weekend of firework displays so we'll be able to walk up the nearest hill & watch them with a flask of mulled wine. And I want a bit of a break, i find on my weekends off (I don't get many) there's always so much to do. But camping, all there is to do is go for walks & drink, and maybe sit & read.

We love winter camping. We have lots of layers, lots of hot water bottles, lots of lanterns and don't go for long. Go for it!

Actually I'm tempted now to go somewhere that has a firework display ... but we do have an insulated campervan .
