Thinking of going camping at the end of September. I am worried it will be too cold! I have a 2yr old DS

Has anyone else camped outwith the spring/summer months with their LOs and survived. Any tips?

Am I mad?

I would have thought September would be ok (depending if we have normalish weather!)

maybe hats for everyone at night lol

(ps, dont listen to me though.....we have our first camping trip on Friday!!)

I live in Scotland, so normalish weather is a rarity!

We have a long weekend at the end of September and no money!

Might just go and stay with relatives instead

could it be any worse than most of July and August ???

I am certainly hoping for an Indian summer.

Last time I went camping we had between 10 to 12 degrees celsius, partly clouded partly sunny. One night with rain. I had wollen blankets on top of the Thermarests. We had sleeping bags. I let the kids wear tights, woolen socks, t shirt, pyjama top and fleece jacket in their sleeping bags for sleeping. I wore tights, sock, t shirt and fleece also. It was fine. You are talking about tenting right?

Went in June this year and the temperature at night was 6 degrees. the first night I was freezing, but the second night, on an airbed with bedsocks, 4 seasons sleeping bag and hat, I actually got a decent night's sleep. I would take duvet to put over sleeping bag and maybe have your LO sleeping next to you for extra warmth. It could of course be much warmer than that at night, but best to be prepared. Happy camping

it would depend on how warm you and yours are. i camped with my children in april and we had frost on the tent in mornings, but we were all fine.
camped a couple of weeks ago with my sister and me and my children were baking slept on the sleeping bags, my sis slept in her sleeping bag in pj's jumper and coat and complained she was still cold.
as suggested by others take more than you think you'll need and then you'll be fine
enjoy!!

We're planning a couple of camping trips in October..one at the beginning & one the last weekend. We will be going very local so can always come home if it's too unpleasant.
