We are looking to purchase a new tent, the style and make we have decided on, the trouble is we dont no whether to purchase the polycotton or the polyester version. Any opinions would be gratefully received thank you

If you can afford it and have the space in the car then definitely the polycotton. They are stronger, quieter, cooler in summer and warmer in winter. They are heavier though and are bigger when packed up.

It was you who I had this conversation with wasn't it?

Slubberdegullion Wed 27-Aug-08 18:28:04

sorry spud, I am being rude.

If you have the space and money as dusty says, go for the polycotton. For all the reasons she says.

It was me yes slubber i wasn't ignoring you lolgrin I regret to report that as yet norks are still as far south as pre-polycotton<<sigh>> The tent is still fab though.

What sort of design were you thinking of spud?

Vango have a polycotton one...Vango Zanzibar I think...anyone any experience of it?

spud - we have the Vango Amazon 800, which is the polyester version of the Zanzibar (I think). A great tent, plenty of ventilation but it was a bit noisy when the wind got up strongly. I suspect the polycotton one would be much quieter. Would have chosen that if we'd had more £!!
