Erection problems. Does camping Viagra exist?

We bought a second hand tent and are currently having huge erection issues. I can't get it up, if you'll pardon the expression. It may just be that we don't have enough space to get the poles in place...our garden is small and the tent is huge (even using man measures). So I'm not fretting too much.

My husband is confident that he can sort this out without any external help (how unexpected for a man!) but I think we need help!

I'm taking the tent to my sisters at the weekend (she has more experience at the camping thing than me...I'm not a virgin, but I am, ashamedly, texturally inexperienced).

I just wondered...even if tent Viagra doesn't exist, does anyone have any idea on what might help?

We have a Wynnchester Savannah. I've checked the website and no joy. The label instructions seem clear, but the poles are HUGE. I think I've blinded three of my neighbours (I'm avoiding people with eyepatches in the neighbourhood...just in case) and the fabric doesn't seem generous enough.

Perhaps it's just a teething thing. Beginning of a new relationship. The start of something that will, with a little help, be beautiful. But right now, I think we're both a little disappointed with one another. The yelling hasn't started yet. We're still at the embarrasment phase with this...shuffling around the tent bag making apologies as we go and avoiding the main event.

Help me you denziens of the camping world. You're my only hope.

I don't know but are the poles the correct ones?

Perhaps measure them and check instructions or ring company

Are you sure there are no catches anywhere so the material is bunching up? Ours seems similar, but having 4 people to hoist at the same time makes a massive difference.

I think you need to get it into more space. Pitching a big tent in a small garden is a recipe for marital disharmony.

Thanks for the advice all. I bought a pup tent for a fiver yesterday from tescos and am currently tempted to use that for future adventures! Took 5 minutes to erect. Felt as stable as a pack of cards, though!

I will measure poles, RT and contact Wynnsters. That will at least put my mind at rest.

I don't think we're bunching, but it is so hard to tell slubberd when you're in a teeny garden with a big chuff off tent

Sorry it took a while to get back. Hubby kidnapped the laptop til I promised to stop talking about his erection problems on mumsnet (well, actually he took it to work with him, but same result).

your husband is confident he can sort this out with no external help, so step away... make sure you go to the toilet block / check in / to make a phone call for at least an hour when you arrive, and allow him some dignity, don't return until at least some partial success or some interfering campers

I like your style Zwiggy...but I think he's relying on me to at least hold the enormously long poles in place.

And I don't think dignity will come into things after 18 years of marriage as I'm quite sure neither of us has got any

is there any coloour coding of poles? I'd ask on ukcamping - they know everything about tents!

my dh has been training his whole life for this. If I told him about this thread he would be round your house now trying to work it out, in the dark with a head torch!

Sorry squilly don't know that I can help but your OP made me giggle. Thank you.

It is cute, Lucycat. And it was seductively cheap...something I won't make the mistake of buying again, but something that couldn't be resisted. Logic flew out of the window as I forgot all about the fact this was supposed to be an easy tent for me and DD to go camping together in and thought about cute/cheap tentliness.

There are colour coded poles. I think the main problem is the length of said poles. Hopefully, a good bit of space and a nice sunny day should help with construction.

Zwiggy, your DH sounds like a hoot. Mine doesn't even know what a head torch is. Perhaps this is another problem I need to overcome?

PeaMcLean, glad the OP made you giggle. I had talked to friends recently about tent porn so much, the subject of erection just had to come up (if you'll pardon the pun).
