So AT LAST we have made a decision and got ourselves an ex-display Montana 6 with the front extension, carpet, groundsheet - all for a bargain price. It has only been used for a few days at a show apparently and looks in pretty good nick.

The BEST part is, we laid it out on the lawn (as too big to put up in our garden) and we can see that it has a kids room inner tent in it too - WOO HOO! The boys will be soooo happy

I got noe for my birthday too - we put it up on Sunday and it's so beautiful! When will you get to test it out? We have to wait until mid august which will be very hard!

Oooh congratulations to you - I bet yours hasn't had several hundred people traipsing through it (that was only reason we could afford it).

We will be putting it up at the weekend to give it a bit of a clean and to see how it looks, and then we will be testing out properly for a couple of days in the Forest of Dean the weekend after. I am so excited!

hope you have lots of fun in it, we've the same tent and had our 1st camping trip 2 weeks ago. Lots of space but ended up with one very large bedroom as dd's wouldn't sleep!
pic on profile of tent, dh was very pleased with himself as he pretty much put it up himself.

That is good to know Cali, as DH will be putting it up himself

just seen your thread re sleeping bags, dd's have both got sleeping bags (3y and 10m) both bags are by vango. dd1's is too long but it didn't seem to be a problem at all and kept her nice and warm.

I'm itching to see it up and the boys faces when they see their bedroom. DH isn't been very precise with figures but I think he got the whole lot for around £340!

xpost sorry cali. I can't imagine putting (and keeping) DS2 in a sleeping bag, but those little vango ones are sooo cute! We will definitely be getting either the vango or the outwell convertible one for DS1, they seem to be the best ones about.

we've the canopy and carpet, haven't used the canopy yet but the carpet is lovely. Dh now wants to get the latest canopy that has sides to part of it.

tent took dh 30 mins to put up, the only bit I had to really help with was putting poles in and then lifting tent up and holding it whilst he sorted out pegs etc.

the problem we had was dd2 kept rolling off one of the double airbeds we have.
Have bought 2 junior kampa airbeds, says they shouldn't be used for children under 36months but our travel cot is too large to fit in the car with everything else, has anyone used them with a baby?

Hi washersaurus

I too have a Montana 6, purchased off ebay. Have the front canopy, footprint groundsheet, carpet but no doormat! Love it!

Looking forward to testing it all out at the beginning of August. Had a trial run in the back garden. The tent filled the available space between the climbing frame and slide completely!

Since been out and bought table, chairs, new cooker, new sleeping bags for dc and mats.

Taken the boys camping in a 3 man tent without dh so far. We all survived intact, despite the weather. They loved cooking on the camping stove and eating outdoors! They particularly loved staying up late (it was the longest day!) but thankfully slept in a bit later the following day.

Enjoy!

sorry, meant to add, good price for tent. we got the kids room for our tent but wouldn't fit as our tent is last years. It looks great, sure your ds's will love it.

We didn't get the doormat either DrZeus - DH was most disappointed.

We have the full front extension rather than the canopy, but it needs a bit of TLC as there is a tiny tear, but it can be easily repaired (fingers crossed).

Cali, we have just bought a kampa jnr bed for DS1 (3yo) after the Readybed disaster during our last camping trip. I think I would happily pop DS2 (1yo) on one too, but we were grateful to have our travel cotbed last time to stop him escaping the tent all the time

Have you inflated yours yet? They are fairly massive beds - DH is worried that our travel cotbed won't fit in alongside it in the kids room.

they are pretty large but will probably just have 1 big bedroom again this weekend. Need a bed that's big enough for me to curl up into, as just know they'll be a bed swap at some point this weekend!

Congrats on your tent purchase! We also bought an ex display which had been up for a week at an exhibit. We should be able to pick it up between now and the weekend. I think we will have a go putting it up (weather permitting) and cleaning it up this weekend, trying out gear in it and are having our first trip with it the weekend after in Northamptonshire (going to the silverstone classic show). We are very excited too!

We bought a Wynnster Eagle 6. We were very happy when told they are made by the same people who make Kyham with some Outwell features, lol! We did look at the Monty 6 though but really wanted the potential for 3 bedrooms as have 2 ds's and another on the way. For now, we will either have 1 big room or a 4+2.

I just bought a Wynnster Savannah 4 from Ebay and have been buying bits and bobs for our first camping trip. I'm now trying to figure out where we're going to go with it and when!

WE haven't managed to erect it yet, if you'll pardon the expression, as we wanted a dry day for the dry run and my husband decided that mid-week erection would be better as he's shy about doing something new in front of others (ie the posh neighbours).

And yes, I'm talking about camping, though I'd suspect he'd be reluctant to try erecting anything in front of an audience!

And now, of course, it's raining, so we have to wait for the sun to come back. Which may take a while...

Have fun with your new tent washersaurus...and congratulations on joining the newest club. 21st century campers.

We were looking at the Wynnster/Kyham tents originally, but were seduced by the light spaciousness of the Montana (although DH really wanted the Vermont XL)

We decided that 2 bedrooms will suffice for now and then upgrade again as our family grows .

We borrowed our friends Kyham XXL dome tent recently which has rooms at either end; suprisingly the DS' seemed happier sharing than apart, and I would have been happier having them on the same side of the tent as me and DH. We are really glad of that trial run before we purchased our new tent, as it also confirmed that we wanted a sewn in groundsheet too(something furry got in the tent one night...aaargh ...I keep telling myself it was a cute fluffy rabbit).

We have the older (5 years) monty 4 which was bought bc. Got the extension and used it last week, it was great, even in high winds. We kept all our cooking/eating/chairs stuff under it all the time. I am sure there was some camping porn going on as loads of people commented on the space

Did you get around to putting your tent up this weekend Washersaurus?? We put ours up this afternoon, in the wind, t'was a good experience on the whole, took 2 of us just over 30 minutes to figure it all out, lol! We also came to realise it is quite big, barely fits in our larger than average garden, lol! Oh, and I did find a cute fluffy bunny in the tent. We have 2 as pets that have free run of the garden and the boy is very inquisitive, lol!

I have just added pics to the bottom of my profile, sad person that I am

Yes, we put our tent up in our friends garden yesterday. It is fantastic, there is sooo much space. DS1 was really happy with his kids room and immediately demanded to be zipped in!

The front extension makes so much difference - it will definitely be really useful for storage and cooking.

It took DH much longer than the 8 minutes the man on youtube took putting his up though! It was more like 45 minutes!
