I was going to buy a Gellert tent from CCC and then I saw this on Ebay

The height made it look very attractive, so we put in a bid of £30, then thought, it would be worth £40 to us, but no one else bidded (which isn't a proper word) so I got it for £30.

Woo hoo.

And I bought an Aldi's remote control lantern today for a tenner.

I'm a happy bunny. Sorry but I had to share....And my little girl wanted me to post on Mumsnet about something, so this was it!

Summer hols, here we come. If the rain could just stop now, we'd be larfing...

yay, It's so exciting when you get a new tent isn't it? I have come to the conclusion that I am an addict as we have 4, and I'm still searching for the perfect 2 weeker blush

I'm with you on the prayers for the rain god to have a holiday...

You're getting all tent porny, aren't you??

I've been talking to my friend in France about tent porn all week. I got the Featherdown Farm brochure (really top class tent porn) and we're now planning a trip for next year.

What is it about canvas (or the modern day equivalent) that's so damned fascinating. I just love wandering around camping shops. It's strangely addictive and quite relaxing. And expensive.

Oh to find a decent camp bed...Have lovely holidays all!

Lucycat Fri 11-Jul-08 21:42:04

oh god you'll get slubber on about her real canvas, super Hollish tent from Holland now... wink

squilly Fri 11-Jul-08 21:44:41

Is this akin to comparing Aldi's and Waitrose? Tesco and Ocado? Crappy tents (like mine) and Cabanons???

It's not going to end up like a bf vs bottle argument is it? I'm heading to the hills (with my ickle tent of course).

<elbows LC out of the way>

smells like proper camping
warm (when cold)
cool(when warm)
lasts for years
no condensation
better sex
hair has more body
reduces weight by 2 stone
improves knowledge of physics and ancient history*

[last 4 anecdotal only]*

Lucycat Fri 11-Jul-08 21:48:23

and polycotton has all of the below - or is that above

apart from the smell of camping aka mildew!

Slubberdegullion Fri 11-Jul-08 21:49:07

Squilly, your gelert looks great btw. perfect, easy up tent.

Slubberdegullion Fri 11-Jul-08 21:52:04

pah. Polycotton is 50% NOT CANVAS

therefore, you will have 50% less better sex, and 50% less good at Trivial Pursuits.

Cabanon is FRENCH which gives you allure and appreciation of cheese

Put that in your pipe and smoke it outwell/netherland lover.

Lucycat Fri 11-Jul-08 21:57:40

ahem Denmark acksherley.

your tent smells of cheese?!

Slubberdegullion Fri 11-Jul-08 22:02:54

er, no. My tent smells of meadows of lush fresh spring flowers, with a crystal clear spring running through.

It smells of warm summer nights and sun-cream and sandy feet.

It smells of freshly mown grass and soft summer rain and Pino Grigio and Barbequed lamb.

Your tent smells of your mum's bra.

Lucycat Fri 11-Jul-08 22:04:42

and yours of dd's sick!

so ner ner ner ner ner ner ner.

are the insults escalating? !

Slubberdegullion Fri 11-Jul-08 22:07:43

At least my porch/canopy matches my tent.

And the sick was easily rid of thanks to my high end inflatable sleeping mats of deluxness.

Lucycat Fri 11-Jul-08 22:08:55

sickorest thermarest.

Do you like sleeping on yhr grond?

Lucycat Fri 11-Jul-08 22:09:49

yhr grond?

that's Welsh that is....must be, not enough vowels grin

Lucycat Fri 11-Jul-08 22:13:14

am going to open a bottle of white now so I shall love you and leave you to your canvas that we've ruined squiLly's thread!

Slubberdegullion Fri 11-Jul-08 22:13:15

yes yhr ground. And yet not yhr ground.

At one with the earth, and yet hips and buttocks plumped up on the restful comfort and insulating properties of the perfectly formed 'rest

What do you sleep on in the lake? A scattering of straw?

Slubberdegullion Fri 11-Jul-08 22:13:58

bye then!

Lucycat Fri 11-Jul-08 22:20:37
