What's the best site to look at to find campsites in a specific area please? I know I've seen one recommended before but can't find it now. TIA.

gosh that was rather curt of me wasn't it? How rude.

I find ukcampsite to be most helpful and informative on such matters

now that is better.

yes that was curt slubber.. where are your manners

hello btw

Slubberdegullion · 27/06/2008 20:05

hello you too.

I was being super speedy and efficient and following Post Message saw I was coming over terse and grumpy.

And that wont do on a camping thread, oh no.

UK campsite is the best.

I always look there first for reviews from other campers

wheresthehamster · 27/06/2008 20:09

That ws in agreement with slubber BTW. As in UK campsite is THE BEST

hully

get your ['s out woman.

come on

Campers never say "can't"

Report
Slubberdegullion · 27/06/2008 20:15

Apart from "we can't carry on as the tent has blown away/all the bedding is covered in sick/we have run out of wine"

hullygully · 27/06/2008 20:17

Not a camper anymore, camper van's gone to a new home. But when I was I did say can't quite a lot, particularly when it came to emptying the toilet cassette...

Report
hullygully · 27/06/2008 20:18

I NEVER ran out of wine. That is absolutely beyond the pale.

Report
Slubberdegullion · 27/06/2008 20:21

lol

but at a cassette. I have an image in my brain that when you (caravvaners) go into your special chemical loo cubicle you press a little button on the side of your cassette and all your poo and wee gently emerges out of side, perfectly formed into a modest turd brick.

Like in space.

is that how it works?

Report
Lucycat · 27/06/2008 20:24

Could you use the turd bricks as solid fuel for your barbie?

what tune does your toilet cassette play?

ARRGH Slubber, you are giving me flashbacks to my recent camping trip where THE WINE RAN OUT.

It was ok though. The campsite shop had a sale on bacardi breezers and I found a dozen bars of chocolate in my cool box

Sadly as I never involved myself with that sordid side of camping I am unable to help. The best thing is when you go to the loo on the motorway (yes I KNOW it's very bad and dangerous and illegal, but sometimes you're desperate), and you look out of the little window at the back right into the smiley face of an HGV driver - who knows exactly what you're doing..

Slubberdegullion · 27/06/2008 20:31

oh dear, the tone on another camping thread has been lowered again.

Dear oh dear, buckets of piss to extinguish tent fires, turd briquettes to grill your sausages over, wine running out, voiding en-route with truckies watching......

tut tut

they never talk like this on ukcs you know.

Lucycat · 27/06/2008 20:32

was that me? surely not!

I would say pmsl, but it would not be appropriate. Especially as I have been found gazing in interest at those shewee thingies. This is because I have slatternly boys who think it is ok to poke their bits out of the tent zip and water the campsite, despite my protests (only first thing in the morning you know, we are buntinglicious campers).

Report
bramblebooks · 27/06/2008 20:36

Is it ok to admit that I was considering having bunting or solar powered fairy lights on my tent of joy?

I'll get me rucksack

Report
Slubberdegullion · 27/06/2008 20:37

hully mentioned toilets first so she is to blame.

Is buntinglicious a word? If it is our village is certainly buntinglicious atm isn't it bramble?

hmmmm. yes.

I have just checked on DH who has decided that tonight's the night to tackle the front garden. He has weeded all of the cottage garden violets which I've been encouraging to grow. He will be replanting them. The garden needed doing, so I invited his mother over tomorrow. I may be in the tea tent for some time.

wonders about pitching tent in garden and living in it for the rest of Saturdayhunts for a lidded bucket but decides that the compost bin daleks will probably do instead

Report
Slubberdegullion · 27/06/2008 20:50

can you pee in your compost bin with a shee wee then? I have big bins so would need the extension.

Report
hullygully · 27/06/2008 20:54

Does everyone in your village camp then? Is it obligatory?
