Campsite for a large school group ...any ideas?

I am arranging a camping trip for the families at our childrens primary school.
Thought we would go over a weekend, end of June/early July. Need somewhere that could site us all together and be relaxed about us organising a few games and maybe having a camp fire. Not bothered about swimming pools etc, just a field with shower block would be fine.

Does anyone have any ideas about where we could go, preferably not more than an Hour and a half away from Cheshire?

We have already looked at the Conway touring park but they want a £20 deposit per tent which seems a bit steep if we get rained off!

We stayed at Hardhurst Farm in the Hope Valley, Derbyshire a couple of years ago -- there was a school group there so they must welcome them. It has easy access to Kinder Scout and the Pennine Way, and a cafe on site. No camp fires though.

Details here.

Alternatively if you don't mind travelling further then Fisherground in the Lakes is an amazing site and allows camp fires. It does get very busy though.

Most places would expect a deposit. A lot would expect full payment in advance tbh

Thanks Meg, Crunchie and Chippie

Fisherground is my ab fab favourite but they won't let you book in advance and if we all just turned up on a Fri it would be a free for all! My kids love it there!

Hadn't thought about the scout camps, will investigate, will try out your link to the peak district now. Thanks

It's a shame you are too far away, as 50 of us are going (again) to Britchcombe Farm which is very basic but has lots of space, allows campfires, and makes us all very welcome

Woodcraft Folk also have a couple of campsites, and their outdoor centre in the Peak District is v. beautiful.

Thanks Madm00se hebden hey looks perfect but they only take scout/guide groups. I have left a email for them anyway.

Thanks Maria the outdoor centre in the peak district won't let us camp there, they do have campsites but bith are too far away.

miliways thanks for the link, hope you have good time but again too far for us!

Mildmanneredjanitor if you wouldn't mind I would really appreciate more info on the site in the lakes.
