Thinking of going away when the weather gets warmer in the school hols. Fancy either caravan or camping holiday with kids entertainment on site (dds 5 and 3). Does anyone have any recommendations?? Thanks.

oh sparkler we went to haggerson castle in may last year and i dont care what anyone else says, it was fan bloody tastic. we had dd1 and she was 18mths and she couldnt stop smiling and laughing the whole time! we were lucky with the weather, which helped a lot. and because it was out of season we got a week in a gold star caravan for £120

We went to beverly caraven park in Paignton last year - they had loads to do, and there's lots to do round there as well.

Caravan Club has some good sites. This is their latest addition. here

Ah - you have to have your own touring caravan. Might not be what you're looking for.

SPARKLER1 Mon 10-Jan-05 13:30:34

No we don't have our own camper. We have no car (off road at present ) at the moment and only accomodation is a four man tent!!!! Don't mind paying to hire a caravan though.

thought I'd better add - we will have a car when we go away!!!!!!!!!!

we always go through hoseasons when we book our holidays as they are so cheap! We have a week in devon booked (EASTER WEEK) and only paid £175 for it, that non term time and 6 bed caravan, gold star!!

SPARKLER1 Mon 10-Jan-05 13:39:56

I've heard before that Hoseseasons are good. <reminds self to pick up a brochure>

Haven/British Holidays have online discounts

The Sun newspaper are doing their £9.50 caravan holidays at the moment. Collect eight tokens from the paper and send off by end of month. Lots of choice all over the UK and abroad. Think they are Haven/British Holidays.

sun deals are ok, but you can get stuck for extra fees, and may not get the dates u want.

SPARKLER1 Mon 10-Jan-05 17:57:20

misdee - I've heard that it's difficult to get the dates you want before.

I must say that I love Cornwall it is such a beautiful place - we went there a couple of years ago and stayed in a chalet in a holiday park. It was a Westar Holiday Park with the characters Sid the Seagull and Lizzie the Lizard. The kids still have forgotten them! Lovely place but its quite a trek from Poole and dds get bored sitting in the car too long.

anyone else got any recommendations?????

I love this place!

Loads to do in the area with the kids and lovely walks and beaches nearby

Thanks WCL. Shall check that one out tomorrow- bit sleepy right now. x

Right, got the Hoseasons and Haven brochures. Just need to choose where to go now!

If you can, pick a few haven parks that you like and then wait until as last mintue as you can to book it as they are so so cheap then. I have seen some on there for 75 quid for the whole week.

Oooh I love choosing holidays. I've just booked a week in the Easter hols in a cottage at my favourite place in Cornwall - Polperro.

We went to Mullion in Cornwall a couple of years ago. It was wonderful. Visited Kynance Cove and that has to be the most beautiful place I have ever seen. Returning to Cornwall is quite tempting but I usually like to try somewhere different when paying out for a holiday.

misdee Sun 16-Jan-05 21:31:16

sparkler, leave it till last minute fpr haven. we got a last minute (3 weeks b4) deal last year for £99 in june. 2 years b4 we booked in advnace for the month b4 and it was 3 times that price.

nutcracker Sun 16-Jan-05 21:32:43

Agree about the Sun hols too, often there are lots of extra cgarges. Last year we even found a Haven last minute holiday cheaper than a sun one.

Surfermum Sun 16-Jan-05 21:35:55

North Cornwall isn't so far. We got to Newquay in 3 hours last year (but we did leave at 7!).
