Clothes storage

Wondering if anyone has any genius ideas for storing clothes when camping? Something we can't seem to get right.

I would totally take one of those hanging rails but we're at absolute full capacity in the car so don't have space.

Anyone?

Going for four nights, family of four including three messy ones (not me!)

we use large 'really useful' boxes.
one for clothes and one for kitchen stuff.
they double up as seating.

Packing cubes are great. We use a different colour for each person.

Thanks purplesequins, we do have a box for kitchen stuff, but not sure if we could fit another box in the car.

We just leave them in the bags we carry them in.

I love the large aldi reusable bags, we have different colours everyone’s clothes in each of their own bag with a small empty bin bag each for dirty clothes to go into. As they’re soft bags they squish down quite a bit in the car, better than suitcases

I just use the bags I packed them in.

Maybe a seperate carrier/bin bag for dirty clothes so it's easy to sort when back home.

I use folding car boot organisers. Just camped for two weeks. Was able to organise underwear, t shirts and shorts into the compartments and kept everything else in the bag. Didn't have to do much rummaging around in the bag really. Just folded my jeans and sweatshirts In a corner of the tent to grab when it got chilly in the evening.

The kids have their own sleeping compartments and kept their clothes organised in piles next to their sleeping mats. DH hardly takes anything and keeps it in his bag.

I'd take them out of the bag you brought them in as you need them, and put in plastic bags when you're done. Then put the bags back into the original luggage bags when you pack up.

I did have a hanging rail from the range one year but it melted in the heat. Came back from the beach to find it and all my clothes collapsed in a heap. I keep it simple these days.

Blue IKEA bag - wide enough to rummage in. Shame they don't have a zip though.

That’s a great idea @purplesequins. Are they strong enough to take the weight of an adult or is it for kids only?

they are pretty sturdy. we adults sit on them without issues so far.

Yep blue IKEA bags, then lay out in piles next the kids sleeping mats, so tshirts/shorts/swimmers/undies etc etc

Me and DH also in IKEA bags but we (well I) don’t rummage through them and turn them upside down

Have previously just laid mine out next the sleeping mat also. When we first went I bought collapsible shelving units and put them in that, doubled as surface for stuff too.

My DD has a small wheeled case that all her stuff fits in, pockets in lid for books etc and on outside for hair things and toothbrush. I have a rucksack which opens fully (like a case) and has a separate bottom section and small bag that zips onto it. Used but wearable again clothes go back in cases inside out, dirty stuff into small bin bag in bottom section of my bag. I’m planning to get jumbo storage bags for pillows, blankets, sleeping bags etc, mainly to make it easy to store at home and transport from car to tent pitch. I like the look of these.

I put all my kitchen stuff in a wheeled really useful box drawer tower this time. Split into two to fit in the car and clicked back together at the other end. That worked really well together with folding cupboard and coolbox for food and a folding table for cooking on.

We have a pile of clothes each on the floor in the kids room and a suitcase in our room to chuck in the dirty clothes - I'd love a tidier solution but we have no more packing space for wardrobes!

Take everything in a holdall mixed up then separate into packing boxes like you use to fill in an IKEA kallax. Everyone has one in a different colour. They fold down flat and store under the car seats on the way there.

A really useful box for shoe storage.
