Camping

German Baltic coast

Can anyone recommend any nice, family friendly campsites on the German Baltic coast?

Would be interested in hearing about anyone's experiences of camping in this area, as we quite fancy it for next summer.

I can’t recommend any, but there are tons and you need to book early as the German Baltic Coast is an extremely popular holiday destination.

Most popular and expensive will be the islands of Rügen, Hiddensee and Usedom. The islands of Poel and Fehmarn are very nice, too. Fehmarn will be closest if you are driving.
Then there is, of course, the coast...

The former West tends to be (slightly) less expensive than the former East.

Thank you. We're also looking a bit further inland around the lakes but there are so many campsites it's hard to know where to begin.

Do you know if many Brits tend to camp in the region? DH and I are not fussed, but the kids like to make friends.

I doubt that you will run into many English speakers, but all children learn English from primary school and are usually quite keen to try it out.
Mecklenburger Seenplatte again is an extremely popular holiday destination and will get booked up very quickly. We have looked at houseboat holidays before.

To be honest, all camping sites I have ever been to in Germany were very good, but that was a while ago. We tend to go for holiday apartments nowadays and have stayed in some fab places, including an alpaca farm.
