A couple of Eurocamp noob questions

I have had a look through some of the many previous threads, I promise.

  1. If you take your own bedding to use with the supplied duvets in the chalets, will standard double/single fitted sheets and covers fit, or do I need something more exotic?

  1. If we are going to France in June outside of school holidays (DC1 is just 4), will the kids camps for 4+ be running? Will there be any other children for them to play with there?

Thank you kindly

Yes, beds are normally standard singles and doubles.

In late June you will find Scottish and Irish children on popular sites, as schools close before the end of June. There will also probably be other parents like yourself with younger children enjoying the cheaper season. They may not alll be British, but children are children and will play together.

You will need to enquire from the company when the kids club opens ... it seems to vary from site to site.

You will have a great holiday... so enjoy the adventure!!

Thank you! The pages for the parcs we are looking at say the kids clubs open from mid May, but I wasn’t sure how much would be on between whit half term and the summer hols. I’m sure we will have fun anyway but DC1 is v sociable (and DC2 only tiny) so somewhere he can make friends is a major draw. Don’t want to pick a site on that basis only to find it’s deserted when we get there!

My experience is that the kids tend to mix more when you are based in one of the tents rather than the mobile homes.... badminton racquets, footballs, etc will bring the kids together.

From my own experience even off season there are plenty kids. If they are running the kids clubs there are generally enough children to justify it. Ds2 loves eurocamp holidays because he is very sociable and never struggles.

They don't supply duvets (unless this is something new). Only blankets so you need two lots of sheet. We took our own duvet in cover for our bed (and a very think foam mattress topper cos the beds are HARD). And the boys had their sleeping bags on a sheet over the matress. It does mean more washing when you get home. If you can afford it then opt for their linen package as it really cuts down on luggage and washing once at home.

By the way, blankets are not cleaned between occupancy so if you are very germ aware take your own stuff.

Take a good lightweight chopping board and your own veg knife. Tea towels and oven gloves. Citronella candles

Apparently it’s all duvets in 2019! We’re going to take our own bed linen as we’re planning a multi-parc holiday and the hire fees mount up. Adding sharp knife and chopping board to the list (can’t bear those glass things they always give you in French gites)

Fitted sheets and duvet covers all they way, then. Most sites will have on site washing machines - usually five euro a pop. May be worth bunging them in there mid hols?

Cool bag with freezer packs for picnics or just so you can buy cakes on a day out.

Things I would take - take wet wipes, a couple of tea towels, small amounts of washing powder and washing up liquid, a good sponge for non-stick surfaces, a couple of spatulas, couple of dishclothes, line and pegs. Some people take fold-up-small clothes airers, or buy them when there, for wet towels. Kitchen roll. Kitchen scissors. Good tongs.
