Just that really. What's your favourite campsite in France? We will most likely take a ferry & have 2ds (3 & 7). Thanks!

La Ribeyre in the auvergne. Beautiful!

Les Valades in the dordogne is a close second.
Two completely different sites, so very hard to compare them. However, we've had fabulous holidays at both.

Le Chant d’Oiseau is great, especially with young children. There is lots to do in the area, zoo, chateau etc. It is an easy drive to get there from the ferry too.

The owners are English and very helpful and friendly and as it is so small all campers socialise together. Would certainly recommend.

Another vote for Les Valades. We only had 2 nights but it was so peaceful and the kids loved the lake and canoes.

A few favs

domaine de massereau- lovely site in walking distance to pretty town of Sommières, one of dc favourite sites because of all the stuff to do on site and they always seemed to make friends here

les ranchisses in the Ardeche, nice setting and has a lovely pool complex with adults only relaxation bit and a gym, great area to explore

both of those are quite a trek from calais when we did tunnel so we had overnight stops but if been close to ferry port is key

Le camping du Poulquer in Bénodet is under 2 hours from Roscoff a family run site with in walking distance to lovely beach and town of Benodet, if it wasnt for the weather we would probably go here more frequently

Millimat we are off to Ribeyre this year! What are the temps like day and night? Looking forward to a bit of hiking too.

Camping de Courte Vallee - Airvault

It's quite a drive from the crossing but it was definitely worth it.

First night we arrived and expected the restaurant to be open so had no food but they'd sent the chef home just minutes before we got there so the owners invited us to have dinner with them - it was really lovely.

Thinking we'll go back next year, although we don't have the camper van anymore Sad

Prof weren't we at les valades the same year? It was really hot in the auvergne the year we went. Not sure if that's typical or not but it was clear blue sky every day. It was actually too hot for some of the walls we had planned - more lazing around than was intended. You must go to puy de sancy and puy de dome.
Tbh I can't remember night time temperatures so guessing it was somewhere in between.

Millimat that sounds good, always flexible about lazing around days! We have about 10 days there so it should lead to a good mix of laze/doing. Grin I am not overly bothered about it being hot every day, but wasn't sure what to wear/sleep in at night. What's the restaurant like- other views have been mixed.

Yep, I think we overlapped at LV one year.

We've been to Les Ranchisses too. Lovely restaurant on site and the wine was cheap. Les Peneyrals in the Dordogne is very nice. Lots of activities.
