As title really. We went to La Garangeoire this year and loved it. We have a 7 year old and a 1 year old and we loved the facilities and activities for them, plus the site was of a really nice standard. We want to try somewhere different this year, but I want to find a site that's as good as or better than La Garangeoire. My wish list is good pool area, kids club and kids entertainment, good onsite kids activities for toddlers and primary school age kids, good activities and entertainment for us parents too, some decent onsite food options, big pitches for your own tent, nice shower facilities, attractive site, good places to visit off site. I don't want much 😁. Would really appreciate suggestions.

Never did find anywhere to match it tbh - though we didn't want to go too far south. Which is why we went back 3 times....

Went to La Garangeoire twice and loved it. Haven't tried anywhere else yet, and fear nowhere else would live up to it! Friends who are teachers and who travel round France for 4-5 weeks every summer (and have done so for a number of years so have seen a lot of campsites) said it is the best one they have been to. Which isn't massively helpful to you....

We've just got back from St Avit in Le Bugue (Dordorgne) & Le Pin Parasol in Vendee. Both were great with the options you describe, and both had great pool complexes. St Avit had Eurocamp kids club but was a bit less clean and more end off season. We're looking at La Grangeorie for next year so good to hear good reports.

Does it matter that it's not near the beach? How often did you go?

We went to the beach everyday when we were at La G. It's not far at all - maybe 15 minutes? Huge, beautiful sandy beach, free parking, bliss.... happy days long gone now.

Plus you pass the supermarche on the way there/back so dead easy to shop.

We went to the beach a few times but only fifteen mins away so not too bad really. La G has a lovely man made beach too but as we weren't allowed to dig massive holes in it I thought it was slightly pointless!
Pool was so great with water slides etc and so many activities available that we didn't feel the lack of a beach onsite at all.

We only went to the beach once when we canoed up to st Gilles de croix. We meant to go to the beach but we never really missed it. Our youngest is only 1 so the lagoon onsite was perfect.

I'm looking at La Littoral, les Grand pins and pin parasol, all Yelloh sites. Anyone been? Saw you mentioned Pin Parasol GirlsonFilm, would really love to hear what someone who's been to Garangeoire and one of these thinks of how they compare. TwitterQueen and overrunwithlego, that's what I didn't want to hear 😂

We loved the vendee region, and stayed at the sol a gogo Eurocamp site in st hilaire de riez. We travelled around and loved the whole area.

We did try various other Vendee sites and none came close to La G.

Noisy, overcrowded (in comparison), much smaller pitches, pools too busy..... I don't think the DDs minded, but we did.

I have never been to La Garangeoire although I have done a little extensive research on French camp sites in my time.

Camping France is a good search engine as is camping qualitie. This is more of an accreditation than a chain, and will have 2-5 star rated sites, from independents to chains.

La Garangeoire is from the Castels chain which have other sites dotted about.

We're hoping to book La Ribeyre as we want a change of area.

You could try Les Alicourts, or Fierbois both in the Loire.
croix du vieux pont is nearer to Paris.

I have stayed at many Yelloh sites, all excellent but different qualities. La Littoral is great from the pov that it is on the cycle path and you can safely cycle into Les Sables d'Olonne and to the Beach there safely. We used the pool but not the kids clubs. We also stayed at Parc de la cote sauvage (less facilities but best site we thought) and La Sylvamar (biggest site/pool etc but our least favourite) and another whose name escapes me. I have not been to La Garangeoire yet though so cannot give you a comparison.

Le Ruisseau Des Pyrenees is also part of the Les Castel chain, it's a longer drive though or take the ferry to Santander/Bilbao.

We haven't been though! It's a possibility for next year.

Chateau des Ormes in Brittany. Lots and lots to do on site. Plus Brittany much lovelier than Bender.

We loved La Garangeoire. My favourite all time site. We also really like Les Peneyrals in the Dordogne, Les Ormes in Brittany (bit of a gamble with the weather) and a bit more commercialised Les Alicourts in the Loire or Duinrell in the Netherlands
