Sorry for another camping cooking thread, but please advise me! I am soon to replace tent with trailer tent, so will have packing space!

I confess: my kids are fussy eaters and I can't be arsed to "proper" cook when in a tent. We never camp middle-of-nowhere; can always get to a supermarket.

What I really want is a big oven. I'd cook pizza, chicken pieces &
med veg (me) / chicken nuggets (kids), and ready meals like shep-pie out the fridge section. 30 minutes at 180 etc.

Currently have a weber go-anywhere and waiting for the charcoal is a pain. So, I'm thinking - Cadac type thing (gas), or Remoska or halogen oven (ehu). I've never had EHU before, and I'm worried about it not working (don't know how reliable it will be, or will people/me(!) trip it out?)

Would anything do what I want? Thanks :)

I am a big Cadac Carri Chef 2 fan but I am sure there are other interesting options out there as well. Do a bit of research and have a look at YouTube at the various cooking options a Cadac would give you. I've got the flat chef pan, BBQ plate, pizza stone and grill 2 braai plate. It is really really big which means that you can cook lots of different things at the same time. I have it set up in the garden as a gas BBQ during the summer and then change the regulator and use it with small canister gas if we are going camping. I've never tried nuggets on it but it has a massive lid with thermometer which kind of turns it into a giant oven so I think it would be possible... maybe the nuggets could be cooked in a foil tray placed on the edge of the plate where it is a bit cooler. I like the fact that it can be used without EHU as that gives more flexibility.

You can get proper camping ovens if you have got the room.

How about something like a Quest oven?

Friends of ours use one of these in their campervan. Ideal for quick chicken nugget type meals and small pizzas.

That quest oven looks fantastic for the price. I am quite taken by the cadac though. Going to a camping shop soon so hopefully they will have one for me to have a look at.

Oh - I was thinking big with a trailer tent (we bought one one year in France from Cabanon but sold it the next summer). It would have fitted in the centre bit on the one we had..

We have an <a class="break-all" href="//www.amazon.co.uk/Camping-Oven-Omnia-stove-accessories/dp/B000YLJQ5U?tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21" rel="nofollow noindex" target="_blank">Omnia and a <a class="break-all" href="//www.amazon.co.uk/Coleman-2000016462-Packaway-Oven/dp/B0009PURJA?tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21" rel="nofollow noindex" target="_blank">very old Coleman collapsible thing - much more primitive.

I suppose EHU opens up all sorts of options.
