Has anyone camped in Holland?

I'm looking for a lovely campsite in Holland. I loved this one www.campingderoos.nl and have asked them if they have space however I would like to visit the Hague and Amsterdam while we are there and this one is a bit too far away for a day trip to either city.

I've toyed with Durinell which is in the prefect position but we prefer smaller campsites and I'm drawing a blank with googling!

Have you tried searching on this site.

We stayed at Schoonenberg just north of Haarlem (which I recommend visiting). We caught the fast ferry into Amsterdam from here- IJmuiden but I believe they have possibly stopped it, not sure how train connections would add up nearest station is Dreihus.

I've posted a couple of times on here about our trip a couple of years ago. We also loved De Roos, although it was much bigger than we would normally choose. I didn't expect to like it as much as I did.

For Amsterdam, we stayed at Camping Amstelkade. A bit of a drive into Amsterdam, but very chilled out location, especially with family. No cars on site, it loads of trailers etc to play with. Surrounded by water, and swimming in canal just outside. Looked like good cake, in cafe ... not sure why we didn't sample.

Also stayed on Texel - lovely - but I know we were really lucky with the weather which would make all the difference.

I can recommend Camping Op Hoop Van Zegen which is near the beach and close to both Amsterdam and the Hague. Price is very reasonable. Only negative for us is that the free wifi is really hit and miss (but good early am and late pm!). It is a quiet, family friendly site with very clean loos/showers, but there isn't much to do on the campsite itself. We're not bothered about that because we go out on day trips every day. It takes about half an hour to get to Amsterdam and we leave the car in a Park and Ride. Leiden is great too and very close by.

Thanks all, some of these look great. We are now going to have to postpone Holland, probably until next year but I've bookmarked some of the sites for then.

Have a look at Duinrell campsite in Wassenar. About 20mins from the Hague and an hour from Amsterdam. Fees include access to the on site theme park. Beautiful site and the surrounding area is lovely.
