Tent advice for newbies please...

We borrowed a Gelert Horizon 6 man tent this summer for our first family camping trip and have been bitten by the camping bug (though thankfully no other bugs!)
We are now looking to take advantage of end of summer sales to buy our own tent ready for next year.
We are a family of 4 and found the Horizon 6 the right sort of size for us and like the layout, separate bedrooms, being able to stand up etc.
We don't have a big budget so were very excited to see the Gelert Quest 8 available for a bargain price but reading more it seems that doesn't have a sewn in groundsheet. Is that important?
What should we be looking for in our first family tent purchase please? Any brands to look for or avoid?
We've walked round lots of tent showrooms and know what we like the look of but have no idea what we should really be looking for!
Thanks for any tips!

No advice but watching! I looked at the vango taiga blow up but it's way too big and expensive. I definitely want a sewn in groundsheet though - for the bugs reason if nothing else.

We have a Kalahari 10. Porch as an added extra. Dh is 6'4 and can stand up in the 4 bedrooms and middle section. Also comes on a 6 and 8 man size. Fab tent!!

I got a cracking deal on a Vango Icarus at Go Outdoors...it goes up to a 6 berth...I got the bundle which includes an enclosed awning...altogether it's huuuuuge!

We have a vango 600 Avington. Its 6 man tent although it is like a tunnel rather than totally separate bed areas. It is huge and we iften have to pay a supplement for a large tent. I LOVE it although we are a family of 3 humans and 2 dogs. i think 4 would be a squash in the bedroom area. However could easily sleep morein the living area.

I would want a sewn in groundsheet though otherwise i think youll get loadsof crap inside and if its wet out you want to have a dry floor.

If you can afford a cotton tent though then go for that. but they are £££.

We paid £260 for our vango and its fab but i would love a cotton tent.
