Campsite near Edinburgh next week with pitch for large tent and EHU?

I know I've left it very late what with the Edinburgh Fringe Festival taking place etc, but would like to camp not too far from Edinburgh next week. We've never been to Scotland before and would like to visit Glasgow as well. Our tent is very large (4.6 x 8.5m) and I can't find a campsite with availability next week for such a big tent (most nearby ones I've found are fully booked). We're happy to travel in and plan to leave the car at a park and ride, but don't want to spend too long in the car before we get to the P&R. Good wifi would be a real bonus as we've got two teens and EHU is a must.

Bit worried about the weather forecast next week. It sounds as though it is going to be very cold at night!

Assume you've Googled all the Edin sites? Go a little further out...East or West Lothian maybe?

Have you tried Mortonhall caravan park?
Good regular bus service into town and nice pub beside the site. Sorry don't know about wifi.

I checked Mortonhall for you, there does appear to be a space but for smaller tent //www.meadowhead.co.uk/ . Stupid question maybe but have you tried ringing up any of the campsites to check if you can get a bigger pitch?

Linwater out by Edinburgh airport.
Tantallon in north Berwick.
Beecraigs near linlithgow.

All within half hour of Edinburgh.

Or try Fife.

We spent last weekend at Drum mohr near Musselburgh. Our tent is a large 8-man, although not quite as big as yours, and we had a pitch with ehu. We did however book in April, their website now says they only accept tents up to 5m. It may be worth giving them a call though. Their is a direct bus route into Edinburgh.

Thanks so much for your suggestions. Linwater said there was no availability until 15 August and I think the problem with Mortonhall was the size of the tent. I hadn't heard of the other campsites before so that has been really helpful. I was getting so desperate that I was even considering trying to survive without EHU and booking into the Edinburgh Festival Campsite which doesn't seem to have a problem with large tents. The only thing that puts me off is that I'm not sure how family friendly it would be and I wonder whether it would be quite noisy. It seems that a lot of those camping there are working at the festival and return late at night. It's next to the airport but at least the flights would stop at night and it would be easy to get into the centre. However, I'm going to look into the campsites outside of Edinburgh mentioned above.

Tantallon is in a beautiful spot and north Berwick is lovely!
