Things that annoy you in campsites.

I think we can take dirty/broken amenities as granted, along with noise from inconsiderate campers.

I'll start with sites that have perfect lawn quality grass pitches to camp on, usually in neat rows. It just feels like you're in your back garden rather than properly outdoors.

Rubbish drainage. I am in Scotland have been to loads that get it really right others that first sign of rain you are in a swimming pool. Can't do much about the weather but they can help avoid floating away in the night.

Too many caravans; pitches too close together. But really it's other campers' behaviour that I found most annoying, especially big groups that would cordon off huge areas of the site as their territory. Annoys me on the beach too!

People who tie their over excited or agressive dog up outside their tent on a very long lead meaning you have to give the whole area surrounding their tent a very wide berth. We even had one where the radius of the dogs lead covered the path to the toilets and the owner had carefully put up a sign saying please don't approach the dog it bites!

People who don't mop out the showers

Overflowing waste areas because staff haven't emptied the site bins

Dogs allowed to shit round your tent. Yes that happened.
People getting shit faced and shouting over their pounding music or turning their TVs up so everyone can hear every sodding word of the inane shit they're watching!

People playing music of any description, or telly on in caravan awnings.

Places that pack in so many people there's no space for ball games etc

Campsites that don't allow campfires.

On the subject of waste, there is also recycling...........
Yes, I'm all for recycling, but it's not as easy to do in tent/caravan but I'll do my best........However, on campsite in Germany, there were no less than 17 different recycling bins. 17!! Come on, you are taking the piss.........

Children making a noise at 7am when we're not allowed to rustle a crisp packet after 10pm. Works both ways!

I know you said noise is a given, but inconsistant rules on noise between certain hours. We were camping with friends and their 4 yo last year and were chatting at around 11pm when we were told to keep it down. To be fair, friends dh does have a booming voice, and we were quiet immediately. No such thing happening when the tent over the hedge from us let their kids scream and shout from about 5.30/6am :( Site warden was still asleep in their camper van.
Poor shower pressure/time between water bursts is annoying too.

Fishcake my kids aren't allowed to play out until after breakfast and we use quiet voices in the tent when they wake.
I think people forget there's bugger all between their noise and their neighbours!

Easy! When fellow campers don't supervise their children in the toilets. An unfamiliar toilet seat, a stiff flush lever or button, perhaps an old-fashioned flush cord which can't be reached easily, an accidental smear, a little dribble on the floor... And then the next unsupervised 4 year old comes along. And then another. It doesn't take long for toilets to become really grim, and I am sure it's because so many kids who, whereas they're fine to use the loo independently at home, don't quite get it right in an unfamiliar setting (our school toilets are a prime example). And whereas at home they would probably summon assistance: "Muuuuuuhm! The loo roll fell in the toilet!", at a camp site they just skip merrily on their way and forget about it. I still accompany my 6-year old to the loo when camping as I'd hate to think of her getting into a pickle and making a mess for other campers. Rant over.

Oh yes, the groups of people that pitch their tents all in a circle, and form a corral with wind breaks between the tents so that they've taken up half the field, and everyone has to walk miles around them. They all sit up late quaffing and chortling at the top of their voices, letting their children run feral on the rest of the site.

I love kids running feral on big wild campsites, as long as they don't:
Break / cut branches off live trees
Play tag round and round my tent, between my tent and my cooker etc, when I am relaxing and chatting
Charge about in adjoining fields of standing crops, flattening the plants, and pulling them up
Have big water fights with supersoakers in and around the toilet block and soaking everyone who wants a wee
Blow bubbles, especially with a bubble machine or those massive bubble blowers, all over my tent. Go and compromise the waterproofing and flame retardant on your own tent!

I have witnessed all this in the last month, mostly as the parents looked on and congratulated each other on what a marvelous experience all this is for their children.

Adult only campsites are the way forward lol! I do have an 11 year old but he tends to behave as nobody to get excited with.

A lot of these, esp noise. I love the radio on at home but can't stand hearing it when camping, even if it's the station I normally listen too.

I'll add - people cutting across your pitch. I don't want to put windbreaks up etc but I think it's really rude to go too near to other people's tents, or if they're sitting out the front. We had one man do it at the last camp, letting his dog on a massive extendable lead come and chomp at our plates when we're eating, rather than go round on the 'road' bit.

People that leave half their food waste in the plug hole at the sinks.

Those that fetch a chair to watch as you're about to pitch (by all means watch, but surreptitiously).

Know all couples, you know the sort. A proper beardy weirdy with a partner who will normally like Olive from On The Buses. (Nice an relevant for the kids)

Push button showers where you have to keep your hand on button or push every few seconds.
No toilet seats on many French sites (or paper).
Where the rubbish bins are all outside the campsite entrance (on a large site)
Wifi charged at £££££££ (rather there was no wifi)
Cramped pitches.

No hooks or shelf in the loos/showers! I want somewhere dry and clean for clothes, towel and wash bag.

FruitPastille: that also irritates me. So now I always take a couple of butchers hooks. Hook them over the door, and hang a plastic bag from it, put all your stuff in the bag to keep dry.
