Camping

Where can I go camping & hire everything?

The DC (6yo & 4yo) are desperate to go camping. I hate it. DH hates it even more. However, we are thinking that we could tolerate a couple of nights.
Is there anywhere where we could hire a tent and all of the paraphernalia for a couple of nights? Must have hot showers available! Preferably within a couple of hours of London.
Thanks!

I don't know about hiring camping gear but have you tried asking friends/family whether they have camping stuff that you could borrow? Local Facebook pages might also be an option.

When we bought our tent we were amazed at the number of people that had camping equipment that had only been used once but had never got round to selling it.

What about glamping as a middle ground? Already set up tent. Ready made real beds but under canvas.

Look at canopy and stars for locations there is another site but I can't think what it's called.

,Go to Wowo in East Sussex. They have a lovely friend who will provide bell tent, beds, cooking eqipment and more. Plus it's a fab site and they allow fires Smile

Hurley Riverside Park (near Maidenhead) have ready tents, but they are expensive. I second asking friends if you can borrow stuff, we have lent out various bits and pieces, including tents, cookers and beds many times.

Wowo is a stretch in terms of toilets and showers though. More festival than glamping .

The composting toilets can be vile at times. I swore I'd never go back after last year. It was disgusting

MissWimpy - they have added more toilets and showers this year and I've noticed that even when the site is full, it isn't as full as it used to be. Maybe they have lowered their max allowed. My fave time to go is definitely in the quieter months though!
