Co-sleeping and camping

We tried a night in the tent (in our garden) this weekend with DD1, 2.10 years and DD2, 10 months. DD2 was very unhappy and I brought her into the house at midnight. We usually co-sleep so the cot was useless and my single CampingGaz inflatable mattress was too narrow.

So...what to try next? A double? With a double sleeping bag?

I have a double sleeping bag, so if one of the DCs needs to creep in with me in the night, they can. They are older, but sometimes decide that only Mummy will do when it's dark and there are "noises" outside the tent Grin
If you have room I would just get the double airbed, and double sleeping bags. I have two singles that zip together, and I love it when one of the littles decides they want in with me because they keep me all warm and toasty Grin
Just make sure that if you are fast asleep and one of your DDs decides to roam about the tent, they can't get hold of anything they shouldn't - get some kind of "tricky to open" box for the cutlery/tin opener/lighters and so on, and if you have a camping stove, get it out of reach of tiny fingers.
When ours were small, we tended to store anything dubious in the car and just get it out when we needed it. We got those big plastic "bucket" storage bins and all the cooking stuff went in one of those, safely out of the way.

I use a double self-inflating mat with a double duvet for my 11 mo - we were both cosy!

Duvet all the way when camping. Double air bed with a double sheet on, pillows and duvet. Just like home and perfect for co sleeping.

Our DSs are 7 and 4, and dh and I still cosleep with them - we get more room that way! We have a 6 berth Outwell Montana, so we put a double air bed in each sleeping compartment. After a disasterous first trip when the weather was awful (hailstones, in France, in July!) I splashed out on four very snuggly, brushed cotton lined sleeping bags. Until this year we zipped them together in pairs, and cuddled up with a little person each. This year, we each had our own sleeping bag.

Good luck!
