Hi

we are travelling down from St Malo to La Rochelle ish on a Saturday with a caravan......Please tell me of a magic way to avoid the hell of the Nantes ring road which doesn't just add another hour to your journey a different way instead!

In hope.......................................

I don't think there is an alternative. In theory you can go through Angers, but google maps tells me that adds an hour anyway - you can always google map it at the time you leave and see if it's quicker than sitting in traffic. I know people who have got horribly lost on backroads trying to go east of Nantes, so I'm not sure it's worth trying.

The only consolation is that you won't be held up by fucking bastard caravans grin

Seriously, I hope it's not this Saturday - isn't that the day the whole of Northern France heads south?

Hang on to the fact that you will have a great time when you get there and try not to think about the journey home

No not this Saturday, another couple of weeks yet. On way back we are stopping in Loire so okay ish there

Need to find a worm hole that fits a caravan in then.........sad

You'll be grand.

Even with the worst traffic, it won't be more than about 5 hours.

I was further south recently and most people with caravans had driven between 15 and 20 hours shock. Bonkers.

Yes just remember that you're on your way to a fantastic place and on holiday!

We will have the same thing, although travelling on a Friday and travelling further. Googlemaps tells me it will take us 6.5 hrs but we will make sure we have our sat nav with live traffic feed to find quickest route smile
