Will a one man be big enough?

Should I buy a 2 man tent?

Is a cheapie one from Argos OK?

I'm trying to borrow one but wondering what I should get if I try to buy one....I have a 3m Gazebo with sides but I imagine that will be unsuitable!!

I used to do festivals in a cheapie 2 man from a supermarket, I still have it Grin.

You don't want anything expensive in case someone pees on it.

Check out how big the pitch she will be allowed to put her tent on is. Its not a case of how much space does she needs so much as how much is she allowed. I'd go for a cheap two man tent and be prepared for it to be dumped and/or spoilt. Don't borrow one, the damage risk is too high.

Agree, get a cheapie 2 man she can leave behind.

Is this a big festival like latitude or something?

remember she will have to carry it a fair way, so nothing massive and heavy.

Nope tiny festival from which every tiny bit of litter will be removed before the last day Wink

She won't have to carry it - her food will weight more!! she eats loads & she may be taking a djembe as well (& can't carry that!)

But small & pop up will be ideal

Oh, OK - that's good because at a lot of festivals you have to park and then carry your stuff to your pitch - you can't park by your tent.

Don't get her single skin tent - it must have a fly sheet and an inner. The condensation in a small single skin tent is immense and her djembe could get damp / wet.

What about this? Eurohike are good tents, porch space outside to leave her wet shoes / wellies, easy to put up etc. You can get cheaper snall tents but I think this is good value - it has ventilation, a window...it will last.

If she's going off by herself, why don't you get her to do some research, and see what she comes up with? :)

If I do it'll be pink & have flowers on if she picks Wink

If I'm paying - I need to know it will at least keep her dry

She is earning money for college next year so I will be paying Hmm

We've been offered a 'very small' 4 man tent, by someone who will be camping with her for £30

So I think that's an easy option

Thanks everyone

General rule for camping is that your rucksack counts as a 'man'.

So 1 person + 1 camping rucksack = 2 man.

This time around I am taking an air bed (because after 10 years of music festivals I want a decent bed) so I will have a four man all to myself...

PlayingHouse - please don't encourage people to leave tents behind. Festivals rely on the good of the landowner to run, and leaving stuff behind is lazy and irresponsible. The bigger festivals allow you to pack up and donate your tent to charity, but either way please don't let people leave them behind. It's bad for the environment and erodes the good will of volunteers.
