SIMs vs. Airbeds??

Which do you prefer and why?
Which folds up smaller? Are the SIMS difficult to roll away?

Much prefer SIMS. Much, much easier to pack away than an airbed. Plus I have a very bad record with airbeds - they seem to puncture every time I go near them. Too many nights waking up on a deflated one drove me to buy a SIM.

SIMs every time for us after too many deflating airbeds. Also smaller to store and no need to pack a pump.

We have both.

Aerobed actives are part of our big tent kit - decent airbeds, ours have been used for more than six whole months of camping over the last 2/3 years. They deflate and pack away in an instant and are smaller than SIMS when flat - double airbed takes half the room of a thick single SIM.

We have good 10cm SIMS and I always wake up with an aching hip or back. Bigger pack size than an airbed. Part of our 'other' weekend camping kit.

I have just bought a double 5cm SIM to put on top of two 10cm SIMS so that DH and I can try sleeping together (he is always warm, I am always cold) on our next weekend camp - really hoping that 15cms of SIM does it for me because 10cm didn't - obviously size is an issue.

I feel like the Princess and the Pea, but I just can't get on with SIMS.

Can anyone recommend a good comfortable SIM that folds up small and doesn't take up too much space in the boot? Preferably also not huge £££s as we're only really weekend campers. Don't want much do I?

We got some sims last year but really didn't like them. They were just way too narrow. Plus dh likes to sleep on his side and said they were uncomfortable. Think we will sell them and get a decent airbed.

Used reasonable air beds for a few years (Colman Comfort) never ever got on with them, it was a constant process of fiddling to try and get them right, add a solace blanket, under/over, add fleece blankets, picnic rugs, an extra duvet etc etc.

I wasalways cold and I don't even feel the cold really, and my back and hips ached. The kids always woke up soaked, some kind of weird condensation/sweat thing and everything had to be aired.

Tried out the cheapest of cheap sims, amazing, slept like a baby. Now have 10cm massive beast ones, that someone recently linked to on here selling at a bargainous price on Amazon, they are possibly more comfortable than my own bed, would never go back to air beds.

Have a 7.5cm sim - really comfortable and I don't feel DH move all the time, unlike the air bed. Easy to roll (for him!) but does take up quite a lot of room.

Gobblers knob - good to get some feedback about those Amazon bargain sims. We are setting off for 3 weeks with them and probably won't get a chance to try them out.
Personally I love air beds but the waking up in the middle of the night with my arse on the ground and a semi deflated aired billowing round me is a killer

I have a double Sim for Dh and I. It's a bugger to roll up, but it is nice and toasty!

Has anyone tried a Sim on top of an air bed?

We have two double 7.5 sims and us and the kids sleep together like bears. I find them really comfy but they are quite big to transport. I find airbeds quite cold.

We recently bought two 10cm outwell dreamcatcher SIMS and they are super comfortable, and warm!

10cm exped megamat, well worth the gold plated price for this side sleeping, sciatica suffering, generously padded camper!

Hate airbeds, love our SIMs. Ours are ancient thermarests from way back when only thermarest made them in one thickness only (we are thinking they have finally bitten the dust and need replacing - I think they might be 17 years old? Maybe older!)
