Camping

You know that feeling when you're going camping ...

... and you just want to pack up and go but there's another whole day to wait before you leave? Argh!

I've got a bag packed for the DC, a bag of wellies, buckets and spades, buoyancy jackets and snorkels, a dingy and oars and a pile of towels and blankets in the kitchen. There's nothing else to do and I'm all excited.

We haven't been camping for a year. Where we're going there's a beach and a good weather forecast. Tomorrow is taking forever to come!

I never get that feeling. I'm more familiar with the feeling that it's half past the time we'd planned to leave and the food is still in the pantry, the gear is all still in the garage and the booze is still in the supermarket....

I'm with you on tomorrow not coming soon enough though, did I mention my NEW TENT is arriving tomorrow and it's her maiden voyage this weekend....

Hope you have a good one!

I thought this was going to say "you know that feeling when you're going camping.... And you wished you'd booked a hotel with a spa because camping is pure hell" Grin

I do!! All my stuff is piled in the living room after being checked over (first one this year) and I just can't wait. Roll on 6pm tomorrow when DH gets in from work, so we can get on the road

There are always people on these threads who (good naturedly) balk at camping, but I think it's one of those things...if you do like it, it's a bit of a love affair. It is for us anyway. We love camping.

We are off for one night the weekend after this one and I'm already assembling stuff. Can't wait to be reunited with my tent.

Aahhh lovely thread. I've had a love affair with camping for the last 16 years. So many memories, so many laughs, so many disasters (that made us laugh), happy children, simple food, fresh air.

We love it but the packing and unpacking is such a chore.

I am taking my new tent to the inlaws house to do a test run (they have a big garden) and I am overly excited about that and we arent even staying in it just putting it up!

We're off camping this weekend, first camping trip of the year. Dd is 18 months and I've been really excited about taking her, least time we went she was a little baby.

Except now we have weather warnings for rain and I have just started the heaviest period known to woman Sad. Someone tell me this isn't a terrible idea...

Bunbaker · 27/06/2014 07:50

It's raining today. Do you still feel excited?

Good to see others have the bug!

Dog to kennels, pop to shop for some Smidge, receive shopping delivery and pack food supplies, then pace the floor until school's out is all that's left to do.

Leaving in T minus 7 hours! Raining here but not on the West coast so not only and I excited, I'm smug Grin

Jealous.
We have no new tent as very happy with the one we have...but we do have a brand new canopy this year...for cooking/eating/chilling under when it's sunny/rainy.
It's a little bit gorgeous.

We're off to France tonight. My weeks months of planning, honing my packing list will all come to fruition today! So excited. My main task is to keep calm and not get grumpy at DH for not being as immersed in the detail as I am. I love camping and hope my new exped megamat will enhance the experience even further.

Gah, we are so disorganisd.compared to you lot! Just got our camping stuff down from the loft and remembered that one of our camping chairs is broken and we haven't got a bbq!

we're only going for a weekend this time then have a weeklong trip later this summer, so this can be our practice run.

How exciting, bedhaven Have a fabulous time! Pictish that's almost as good....

You think that's disorganised, MsBug, we're supposed to be leaving imminently and the tent hasn't even been delivered yet!

MsBug · 27/06/2014 13:43

Ha ha vivi. I did once forget the tent. It was fine though as we'd been planning on getting a bigger one so popped into a millets in the nearest town and they had a sale on.

MsBug what a brilliant excuse to get a new tent! We could always take the old one but I want my shiny new one

OMG Vivi.... I have just looked at your tent thread.

THAT TENT IS AMAZING

I thought I was happy with our £130 Hi-Gear, well it is bloody good for the price, but you've set me off on a new tent fantasy. However I can't justify buying any more tents as we have a camper that we mainly use.

Has it arrived yet? Has it has it!!!?
