Might do first tent camp next week?

Dp and I may brave it next week and go for a night behind a pub in the tent? One with real ale so we should be numb enough? Wink

I'm just so eager to get camping. Dss can go to dad's and we'll camp somewhere near to his.

Mad or what?

Thanks hillbilly. We won't be far from home but then again we camp behind a pub so can't drive back if it's horrendous weather Grin

Thanks. Wish me luck as it will be the first time camping without DH as he's away and would NEVER contemplate camping in April!

we're going Easter weekend. Have chosen a holiday park with loads of facilities for the kids in case of poor weather (and only 2 nights in case its just not for us!)

I am a first time camper to be and I think May will be the earliest for me!

I was coming on this forum looking for early camping advice. I'm off to Dorset next week. How easy is it to stay warm? I know I should saty dry, but what else?

Tiggy - have lots of layers. Put bedwear on early in the evening esp for the children. Hot water bottles. Have a single gas stove for first cups of tea/coffee of the day before the campfire it lit.

Tiggy what hillbilly said.

In bed, we wear thermals, PJs, thick socks and maybe a hoody. We have a blanket and sleeping bag plus I put picnic blankets under the mattress. Sometimes if it's been hot we don't need all of that, but I always take it just in case. I've had many a sleepless night due to being too cold.

Foam roll, SIM, onesie, 2 season sleeping bag, old sleeping bag on top as a duvet. And hat.

And as I'm new to cool weather camping, I'm only going for 3 days and I'm close enough to home to give up easily!

I like the picnic blanket under the airbed idea. We have the self inflating one. I wore a hat last time we camped in 'spring'.

Good luck all the rest of you hardy lot Grin
