Easy tent to put up on my own

Hi hoping to start camping soon. Used to have very large tent but now dh has left I need a tent that I can put up on my own. Ideally two berth (for four people). Any suggestions, please as to the type/make I should be looking for. The previous threads I searched seemed a couple of years old, although will probably be looking for second hand equally. Would love to afford one of those air poles tents but don't think I'll stretch to one of them sadly!!

You can't fit 4 people in a 2 person tent!

I would look for a Vango Icarus 500, or even 600, or this if the other 3 are small children and it is for weekend camping

Quechua Pop-up from Decathlon. We have Base Seconds 4.2 but I don't think they make them now.

Another vote for a quechua pop up. Look on the decathlon website, sometimes they have cracking deals on tents that are about to be discontinued.

Si easy to put up. Packing away takes a bit of practice but there are videos to watch, which help a lot.

i have three in different sizes.

A coupld of years ago, I wrote a similiar post to you.

I bought an Outwell Nevada which I can pitch on my own. I've only pitched it once so I guess I just need more practice to get faster. It's a fab tent and is fairly light & compact.

I think it's been discontinued now though?

I bought a Vango Icarus 500 last spring for me and the 2 DCs. I had never pitched a tent before but after one trial run in the back garden, was able to pitch it confidently when I got to the campsite. It takes me about 30 mins to put up and less to put down. I love it! The DCs are 9 and able to help out a little but I really don't need any help at all, its so easy. Good luck!

I am wondering whether to replace my decathlon Pop-Up with an Icarus 500. Because of the blackout 'dark mornings' inner tent, the sewn in ground sheet in the living area and bigger living area.

I have only had my pop-up 2 years...

I have the Quechua base seconds one (that looks a bit like a Chinese pagoda).

It's great because it's up in less than 10 mins and you can (and I have) do it alone if necessary.

I got an Outwell Explore 4 for the same reason as dh works most weekends. I just get dc to help pitch (8 and 6) they hold the poles up whilst I peg

My camping friend manages her icarus 500 on her own (3 kids) although she is a very capable type. She has the front canopy to extend the space which is fab westher protection at mealtimescetc.

I started camping two summers ago as a lone parent with a two year old DS. Our tent was a Quechua Base Seconds 4.2 and it was brilliant. Very easy to put up on my own and taking down was doable after watching the you tube vids a few times to get the knack.

This year I've upgraded to the Vango Icarus 500 plus canopy so am glad to hear it is easy to put up too. Just wanted the extra space now we are camping for longer. Roll on June and The Inside ParkSmileSmile

I was in a similar situation and got a vintage khyam rigi-dome. It's got the poles built in so all you have to do is lock them into place working your way round.

May be worth a look on ebay.

The bell tent is a piece of piss on your own. The only problem is stopping the kids excitedly running about the pole.
