Hi, I'm looking for a nice camp site in the South Wales area pref not more than 30mins from the Severn Bridge. Must have a children's play area, hook ups and allow tents and caravans to pitch together...any ideas? I've been trawling through web pages for hours and if a site looks good, it either has the most awful reviews or is booked solid! Any help would be much appreciated thanks Flowers

We live near the caravan club site at Tredegar House, just off J28 at Newport. Nice play area and huge grounds to the house itself. Otherwise Cwmcarn Forest Drive has a campsite. Not stayed at either, but may be worth a look if you haven't already. We have had the same problem trying to book somewhere. Everyone else has the same idea in this weather!!.

What about one of the Forest Holiday sites in the Forest of Dean? Not South Wales I know but not too far away! We were in Bristol within 40 minutes so not far from the bridge. We stayed at Christchurch a few weeks ago, you can pitch wherever you want so can stay together. It was busy but not particularly noisy, the showers weren't the best but they weren't awful, there is a play area and nice shop/cafe, plus lots of paths into the woods.

They have a sister site next door (Bracelands) with no play area but we didn't visit so I don't know what it's like.

We've also stayed here near Monmouth but I believe the tents and caravans were on desperate fields. It was very quiet, and we found the owners helpful but they are fairly strict!
