Hello, We want to go for a week in September, I know about Keycamp and eurocamp but which other companies do the whole tent with everything you need holidays? I'm excited to take DS out of the UK for the first time and it feels good to be going to France as an easy first step.

A quick google of 'pre erected tents france' brings up a few alternatives to the keycamp/eurocamp/canvas holidays trio that I think dominate the uk market. Some campsites also have their own too.

Thanks madamy it's good to know the right search terms! I was coming up blank before.

Has anyone used any of the alternatives?

I'm a fan of Canvas - I've worked for them and holidayed with them and they're a great company. I think the accommodation is better than the others and there are new style tents on some sites which look brilliant, the list us on the website :)

Rent-A-Tent/Roan/Tentsetters/Selectcamp... all Dutch and you might need Google translate but way cheaper than UK operators, especially outside of July - mid Aug peak. Also check out Kawan and Flower campings - mainly statics but some of the sites have canvas options that you can book direct. I haven't got time to do the links but googling should work.

Just seen you're going in Sept... def. check out the Dutch companies, they have real bargains off peak. Selectcamp in particular have some very swishy tents (inc. bathrooms)

I second canvas. Customer service is very good. I prefer to phone them rather than book through the website as they're very good with answering any questions you might have. I'm actually on holiday right now in France in a canvas mobile home.

how about Lodge Tent with wC/shower at Serignan Plage, languedoc? We went in late September a couple of years ago and it was lovely. Still the weather and enough going on for that holiday feeling whereas some of the more resort-y type places are very closed by beginning September. Perfect for pre-schoolers. £240 with Selectcamp (UK site) for one week from 7/9.

Vacansoleil, but you need to book via their Ireland website these days.
Venue, not the best website but good prices.

crocky where are you? I'm very jealous. Only got back from a Canvas holiday in Spain a week ago and 'm ready for my next one already!

From the others suggested I'd go with Selectcamp if you can get one of their posh tents. Vacansoleil tents are exactly the same as Keycamp/Eurocamp and I think venue are too. The Canvas and Vacansoleil ones have much more living space and the kitchen and living areas are slightly seperated so feel more homely.

Thanks Ladies I'll check them out. I've just realised DS could be potty training by then so having a loo would be good news!

Some companies like Yelloh or Castels have them on some of their sites.

I'm in Normandy. Have to pay for the wifi though or I would have answered sooner.
