3 season sleeping bags: to wash or not to wash ...

Ds is just back from cub camp. He has a 2yo 3-season trespass sleeping bags which has been sun aired after each camp he's been on. He'll be using it for 2 weeks this summer and I want to put it through the machine on its hand wash setting to clean it properly before the hols. But apparently machine washing can affect its future warmth, and bear in mind he uses it in Scotland, so warmth is needed.

So wwyd? Wash or sun air again?

Don't wash it unless the label specifically says it can be. I did and it definitely affected the warmth. I would sponge it and dry in the sun, inside out.

Thanks all. I've gone down the sunshine route as I was worried it would go very badly lumpy like a pillow can after being washed ....

Put it like this, no one sleeps in it but him!

What does the label say? I've washed all of ours at some point especially the ones that got weed in haven't noticed any problems.

Get him a liner and just wash that.
