Somewhere between Chester and the M25.... I know really vague

DH will be at some noisy round and round thing on Friday and Saturday at Oulton Park, I want to go camping for the weekend so I was trying to find somewhere between where he will be and Kent (home) so he can be dropped off to us on the way back. We (me and DDs age 5 and 6) will go on Friday after work hack round the M25 Shock and set up camp and chill or find something to do on Saturday. On Saturday evening we will meet up with DH at some motorway juction or something and have the rest of the weekend together.

Any suggestions please - ideally we like basic, with fires (Welsummer and Forgewood are near us and we love them)

I'm struggling with ukcampsite as i don't really know whereabouts we should / could be.

Be everso grateful for any inspiration. Thanks

I don't do camping myself but Chester is not far from North Wales. I would imagine there are lots of camp sites there.

Blimey that is a bit vague. Check out the map on my camping blog, all the campsites I list are the wilder kind, allowing campfires, no clubhouse, etc. Not sure which direction you would want to go really but perhaps somewhere around Stroud would work for you Thistledown, or Abbey Home farm. You wouldn't be too far from M5 then - ish. Or perhaps Inwood near Basingstoke (honestly much nicer than it sounds - sister site of Forgewood!) Good luck!

Thanks. I know it's vague. Im looking for somewhere along the route from Chester to Kent so m1 or m40 so they can throw him out on the way and we dont have to come too far to pick him up. He will be in the race truck. Thanks for the blog link I will have a look now and check out Inwood too.

hmm, tricky. How about Town Farm campsite - pretty near M1. Haven't been there but relaible sources on this forum rate it well!

Delamere forest is close to oulton park and really lovely for things to do with children. There's quite a few sites round there, sure 1 must allow fires. I'll have a nosey...

Ah just realised, do you not have to deliver dh?!

Town Farm is great - if the weather is good. It's pretty exposed so would not care to be there in high wind or rain. But then again I'm a fairweather camper Wink

No delivery required for DH. Was hoping to travel up on Friday and not arrive too late but to be honest with the weather forecast we may abandon camping up there and go canoeing for the day down here in Kent on Sunday/ Monday.

I'd still like to go but may just throw everything in on Friday morning before work and just wing it! I found one site Mill Farm? N of Oxford not too far from the motorway.

Delamere is great for camping and close to Oulton Park. Easy walk into Frodaham which is a really pretty town
