I'm very excited! Can hardly contain myself in fact. Going to www.townfarmcamping.co.uk - weather looking ok but prob a bit chilly at night. Looking forward to open space, a roaring fire and lots of red wine. Anyone else away this weekend?

Yes, am off with DD, and also DP and his DCs who've never camped before! Really hoping the weather's nice and doesn't put them off for life.

Ah mbft - that's our all time fave site and we are booked for half term.
No we have not been to town farm before but it has good reviews here and elsewhere.

Ooh, playground looks good. First trip of the year here too, North Wales. Forecast looks promising :)

Hope you have an awesome time. I camped last weekend and froze my butt off!! Hahaha, the tent was literally covered in frost when we woke up. But hot water bottle in the sleeping bag and extra blankets the second night meant it was ok.

We are off to Lymington in our new Vango tent. Got loads of new things to try and even taking the tag-along-bike as well as the usual bike seat to cover a few miles.

As long as it stays dry we can easily keep warm...

very excited, about to start writing a packing list.

We are off to a certificated site near Lyme Regis in our camper van/trailer tent combo - weather looking a bit meh compared to the lovely sunshine we've had this week but am keeping fingers firmly crossed. No hook-up on site, so no heating...Hmm

I look forward to hearing your review of Town Farm hilllbilly. It's been on my spreadsheet since last year but we haven't made it there yet. We drove past it once on the way to the Natural History Museum at Tring. It looks quite exposed on the hillside so I hope it's not too windy.

MobileDad what Vango do you have? We have downsized to an Icarus 500 but due to the crap weather we haven't even pitched it yet.

Hope you all have a great time this weekend. We have to wait two more weekends (bastard weather permitting).

Us too, in Scotland. Monitoring the weather carefully - is supposed to be heavy rain on Friday but clearing on Sat. Id like to go on Fri, but will wait til Sat morning if needs be. Had a great afternoon getting all my camping stuff looked out yesterday - I think I'm more excited than the kids!!

MobileDad we have an Icarus 600, it's dead easy to put up. I can do it myself in about 20 mins, much quicker if there's two.

Yes Quenelle, I remember you mentioning Town Farm last year when we were supposed to go on this very same weekend but had to cancel due to torrential rain. We have a windbreak which we hardly ever use so will take just in case. Def taking kites!

Just booked our first for the year with the camper, for the 10-12 May at Thistledown Farm near Stroud. Just me and DH for a change. Not been before but it looks lovely--uncrowded site, campfires allowed. Can't wait!
Hope everyone has a fantastic time and the sun stays out for the bank hol

I was supposed to go camping this weekend but I seem to be in hospital waiting to have a baby instead. It would have been our 3rd trip of the year - we went in January and at Easter. I'm feeling a bit hard done by - we missed one in March and if I weren't pregnant, we would have been away for the next 3 weekends at least. Still, we might get to take the baby to a couple that I thought we would miss, so that's a bonus!

Hoping to go to Inwood which is one of Forgewood's sister sites, nr Basingstoke as I have to be in the area on Saturday. Anyone been there?

Humph - had to come back early despite gorgeous weather and beautiful camp site. DS2, who has autism, woke at 3am and none of us got any sleep after that, then we discovered that the fridge had stopped working and all his food (he is on a very restricted diet) had defrosted in the freezer. So decided to come home last night. On the way back our electricity cable snapped! So camping gods definitely not smiling on us Sad

Lovely site owner only charged us for one night, despite fact that our trailer tent had been there all yesterday - will go back, having invested in some of those earplugs that people recommended on the snoring thread! DS2 has always been great at sleeping on camping trips before, so hoping this was a one-off - if not, we're going to have to avoid sites where the next unit is nearer than 100 yards away.

sorry to hear about your change of plans lirael - hope the next trip works out better.

We have an Icarus 500 too - it was very windy on site on Saturday so had to just try our best to stick it up, seemed to come together very well but reckon next time in calm conditions could do it even better. Took us 30 minutes but we left the inner attached when packing up so I'm hoping to get it down to 20 mins (or less) next time.

Glad I bought some v pegs - just need a peg remover now and the tag-a-along bike was excellent, our DS (4) rode 27 miles happily on Sunday with no complaints or issues.

We are now hoping to get away may half term.

Sorry to hear about your weekend lirael. Not the same thing at all obv, but we were at Eweleaze a couple of years ago and DD had a night terror. She screamed for what seemed like hours and we were so mortified we were keeping people awake we trudged from the car-free field for about 15 minutes to get to the car park (she would only let me carry her too - super). She calmed down in her car seat so we spent the night in the car. Not a night I would want to repeat but people in tents around us assured us they hadn't heard a thing. It is amazing what people can sleep through on a campsite so I wouldn't worry too much about the people round you.

Hope you get away again soon and have a better time.

We had a brilliant weekend at Forgewood - it rained and was cloudy on Saturday but Sunday was beautiful. DD (3) spent all weekend running around with the other children, in and out of the woods.
She couldn't have been happier and topped it all off toasting marshmallows by the fire. Bliss!

lireal what a shame for you - hope the cable isn't too costly a repair.

Have to say we had a fab time with the t25ers. I need a week to recover!
