Good campsite near Conwy or Llandudno needed
(18 Posts)Our dc (aged 6 and 3) love the area around Conwy but we've just been back to the campsite we've used a couple of times and decided that we need to find somewhere new. Does any one know of a good one?
We'd also like to camp closer to Llandudno later in the the year but can't seem to find a nice site. Again, anyone in the know?
Thanks
Poor form I know, but bumping anyway.
Maes y bryn near llanwrst. Has a lovely little stream runnning through it. Back to basics type camping but we loved it.
How about the Conwy Touring Park its in Conway and relatively close to Llandudno and with 3 starts it should have good facilities
Thanks for the replies and help
We usually go to the Touring Park. It's OK, a MASSIVE site. You can't choose your own pitch, so if you're given a duff one you've got a fair bit of too-ing and fro-ing to sort it out and if it's the height of summer you're stuck with it. We've never used the clubhouse and stuff but the loos and showers are OK, mostly clean.
Thye main problem is that rubbish is all disposed of in huge industrial bins/hoppers around the site so the gulls this attracts are huge and quite scary. And ridiculously noisy at 4am , especially if someone has left anything out that they can tear apart
.
So we thought we'd look for a change . Maybe Snowdonia is a better bed and drive to Llandudno and Conwy?
bet, not bed.
I'm going here this weekend: http://www.erwglascampsite.co.uk/home
I can let you know after
Thanks for those. I've not been to Llanwrst since I was in Guides!
We stayed at erwglass a couple of years ago. It was basic, but lovely and the owners were really helpful. We arrived late, having had a puncture en route, it was dark and raining and they came over and helped us put our tent up so we could get the three dc sorted quicker. Everything was much brighter in the morning, the children loved the chickens and the staff continued to be helpful through out our stay.
This is about 50 mins drive away but the local area is fantastic
Its a very small site at the bottom of some ones garden, over looking a river with a local cafe and pub, Criccieth is 5 mins drive and is like stepping back in time really nice place.

Thanksbrownowlahi that's reassuring to know. I'm a bit dubious about it, we didn't pick the site we are meeting people there who booked it... And we can't help but be a bit disappointed at how plain it is. This weekend last year we stayed on a quiet site in a valley right next to a river we swam in every day with mountain views and woodland right next to us so there was lots to do. This just looks like a field with nothing else so I think we'll have to explore off site more often than not.
To the OP - Anglesey is lovely, and not far from Conwy, but the beaches are nicer and there are some great campsites.
If you want to go a bit further, this place http://www.aberafon.co.uk/ is fantastic, we camped there a couple of years ago, highly recommend it.
Where was the site with the river daveMccave??
Message withdrawn at poster's request.
daveMccave we have stayed at erw glas. It is just a field but in a perfect position. Spotless (& very posh) toilet & shower. Very helpful owners. DHs fave site.
Thanks for these .
