Camping on the Isle of Wight

I posted last year re campsites in Dorset and several people recommended The Inside Park. We had a fantastic time there so I'm hoping you guys can help me again!

Next summer we're looking at the IOW, looking for a site with decent loos and showers, ideally a play area for the children but that's about it. Near a good beach, suitable for young children, generous pitches (our tent is mahoosive!). Any ideas? Cheers.

We stayed here in the summer. Fab. Quite possibly will return, which we never ever do. Big pitches, lovely easy-going feel. The week we were there, it was full of lots of regulars, and several sing-a-longs/share a talent evenings (really basic, in the field at the end, involving a guy with a guitar, kids standing up to 'do a turn', people enjoying each other's contributions), campfires/more guitars/marshmallows. Beach within half a mile is one of the best I've ever been on. Rock pools, sandy pools, fossils, dinosaur footprints, fossilised forest, shipwreck, just gorgeous. Loos and showers just fine, and a small kids' play area.

I would recommend whitecliff bay. We used to go on the 80s but they've had a massive revamp in the last few years. The camp site is great, the toilet blocks have been refurbished and most of the on site facilities are great. My only criticism would be that the shop was a bit rubbish but we took food with us and there's a Morrisons at Newport which isn't far to travel.

We stayed at Whitefield Forest a couple of years ago and had a great week, nice quiet family friendly site with modern washing facilities and a small play area. Tucked away in a forest and 5 mins drive from a 24hr Tesco, very handy.
