We are off to Welsummer tomorrow. I am being positive and focusing on the sunny spells rather than the showers. Note to self: must buy golf brolly ;-)

It's going to be sunny, no rain just sun.

Thinking sunny thoughts and happy camping vibes but secretly thinking about bailing on the whole weekend

This will be our third BH camping trip this year.

Easter - DS1 got mild hypothermia after stripping in the night
Jubilee - Had to come home for a night when friend's tent got saturated
August - ???

We're off today until Monday with our new tent. Hope the weather is good!

We are doing a two centre holiday. Four nights in Tenby visiting family followed by 5 nights in Swanage. I am packing alot of clothes and books as I think it is due to rain the entire time!

Yes, off tomorrow too, camping at a festival. Telling ourselves that it's only going to be light showers. But have bought new waterproofs, wellies and two massive golf umbrellas!

Us!

First time camping for DS. I've not been for 5 years. Doing a few days in the new forest and am starting to dread it a bit now!

Off to find bargain waterproofs if my tax credits make it into my bank as promised...

me too! I'm going to Reading Festival and I refuse to believe the weather forecast although packing waterproofs and wellies just in case

I am pregnant with our first so this will be our last music festival without a little one in tow - so I am determined to enjoy it!

Were going to lorna doone valley (I think thats how you spell it?)

We go this time every year with friends and it always rains, but not this year, nonononono. This year its going to be glorious sun or I'm coming home!

I'm trying to remain optimistic about this weekend, but am struggling. I have never had to pitch or break camp during rain before so I'm hoping my luck will hold.

I love Welsummer. In the past we have gone for walks / geocashing in the woods there on rainy days. Lovely to have a decent campfire (their logs are usually nice and dry) to dry out around afterwards.

We're going to a site near Brecon.

Sunday is looking like it might be ok weather-wise (fingers crossed)

Waterproofs and brollies have been packed!

It'll still be fun I'm sure!

I've wimped out! Couldn't deal with the rain again, so were not going Blush

addicted, I am seriously considering doing the same. I'll take the kids bowling and to the cinema instead. We have only been camping once the four of us (we used to go camping pre-kids) and it rained and it was a disaster. Now this time, I was really hoping for some kind of break in the weather but it's not gonna happen is it. We are supposed to go to Dorset (Corfe Castle). I still haven't packed. We are leaving tomorrow morning.... help me decide please!

Nottiger, we're not far from Corfe, tomorrow looks on and off for rain, but Sunday looks good, followed by lots more rain on Monday.

It is pitch dark here and lashing it down, lights on, and both DD's talking about Christmas Hmm

It is a lovely area to visit, just feel very sorry for all those down here on holidays.

Maybe we'll just go for one night! Saturday night and come back on Sunday evening!

Nottinger how old are dcs? Mine are almost 2 and 6 months so camping with the noise of the rain is scary for them, add in being couped up in a tentn bored unless you don't mind a wet muddy tent which I can't stand, and it makes sense to cancel.

Report
Nottigermum · 24/08/2012 17:26

They are 5 and 6 so easier to entertain with games - coloring - reading etc. We will stau for two nights only I think, and we have a friend who lives in Bornemouth we might try to crash there on the last night.

we are supposed to be camping near corfe in dorset too from monday. however weather doesnt look good does it ?Sad. if we dont go it will be the second time we have cancelled (and threfore lost our money) so i'm half tempted to brave it out and hope the forecast is wrong!

We went. It was very wet today, but overall the weather this weekend was far better than the forecast had suggested.

We went :) Weather was OK, we came home 9pm Sunday to avoid a wet pack up on Mon. Kit mostly washed & away now :)))

Had to come home one night as friends we were with had a leaky tent (we lived closer than them - our tent was fine!).

V.impressed with new tent - Royal Pescara 8. Was 2nd hand but very tempted to buy a new one now....

Kids had an absolute ball - old enough this time to go off on Woodland adventure trail by themselves = reading / coffee time for me!

Arrived at Welsummer around 4.30pm on Friday and had to pitch the tent in the pissing rain! More rain that evening and some on saturday lunchtime but after that was beautiful sunshine. What a lovely campsite, lovely owners. We really had a great time.

Just got back - Sat, Sun and today was fine but yesterday was horrendous Shock Torrential rain from 6am until 10 last night but at least I now know the tent is waterproof Grin

Was fine though - went to Watermouth castle for the day and had a whale of a time just dreading getting everything dry again
