Camplet - I am transfixed! is it really as easy as it looks??!

We are returning to camping, this time with two toddlers, and are heading away in our old, pre-kids, tent in September.

I am already planing ahead and have been googling around to see what we should buy as a long-term solution and have discovered the Camp-let which just seems too good to be true - kitchen built-in, easy to tow, insanely easy to erect etc etc

Is it really as good as it seems??! DH is sceptical, but I think I am smitten! Does anyone have one? Any experiences would be really useful?

Thank you in advance!

I think you need to go and see one in the flesh. It obviously won't be as easy to put up as the salespeople make it appear as they won't have any extra stuff in it and they will have put it up loads of times, but yes, they really are easy to put up.

We don't have one, we have a Pennine Folding Camper, but I've seen a lot of these kinds of campers/trailer tents in France and they do all look easy to put up.

Thank you Judy! We are planning to go to the Camperlands showroom in Manchester in October half term as it is near my parents', but I am very excited in the meantime!

My mum thinks they look very small - are they? Mum and Dad have had a caravan for 30 years and I think they have just forgotten how small and rubbish our first caravan was compared to the luxury one they have now (they are in fact currently having tea in it with the girls on 'an adventure!) and that it looks like enough space for weekends away in the UK, which is our main plan, but would be interested in your view as you have seen them?

I think that the Camplet that we saw was used by a couple. The camper that we saw being used by a family of 5 - DC aged about 8, 10 and 12 was, I think, a Holtcamper. That certainly was big enough, but I don't know how much they cost in relation to the Camplet. That's really all I know. Sorry. I would look on the net and see the dimensions. For example, our FC has two beds; 140cm x 2m-ish and one a bit wider. We've also got room to sit in the camper bit as that has a sofa section that's also about 140-150 cm wide - big enough for us to sit around the table and have a meal. We also got a kitchen bit, too.

Our awning is huge, too - 2.5 m x about 5.5 or so.

Otoh, my DB has just bought a really small, old, 5-berth caravan. His DC are 11. 9 and 6. Their awning is much smaller than ours and they take loads of kit, but they easily have enough room.

I think whatever you buy, you'll have fun in it. Ime you buy kit to fill the size of outfit you have.

Good luck with whatever you decide.
