If you're going in August, I'm off to Ewleaze Farm, just outside Weymouth which is supposed to be very family friendly!

Hi we have just returned from Riverside lakes about 15 min drive from Bournemouth. It was a great site the owners were absolutely lovely, they brought the children glo sticks every evening. There are a number of lakes on the site so I guess it all depends on your children's ages on how relaxing it would be for you. You are able to have camp fires the owners bring wood to your tent each evening for £4. No play area there but a fallen tree which children spent most of the week on and plenty of room and wildlife to investigate. Shower blocks were clean and tidy.

Just up the road is Moors Valley which is a forest adventure centre which was a great day out

Woody Hyde which is about a mile from Corfe Castle.
Close to Swanage/Poole/Bournemouth.
Lovely beaches nearby.
