We're looking to get a tent with living space and the room for 2 adults 2 children, in sep bedrooms.

I like this one and it seems to be on offer in a number of places for around £170.

Is it a good family tent?

or can people suggest a better one for around the same money?

I can't fault it really. We went on our first trip a few weeks back and it was perfect for us (couple with one 3 year old). Loads of space, cosy at night and nice and light and airy throughout the day. Had lots of compliments about it too. A big thumbs up from us.

hows the living area - could you get a couple of chairs in there in the event of rain?

Our tent you end up sitting in the bedrooms because the living space is really a glorified corridor between the bedrooms, which is why i fancy a tunnel shaped tent.

thanks

I have one and think it's great. The living space easily fits a couple of chairs, and I also have the canopy so when it is nice we can sit out under that. Its very easy to put up, I can manage it by myself. For the price it is, I think it's an excellent tent. The sleeping area is one big room separated by a curtain, it's not two individual pods. There are two doors though.

One niggle i have is that two sections of poles have split so far. It's easy enough to fix but I suggest you buy a pole repair kit just in case.

Oh, and if you can afford it, get the carpet too. I used to scoff at the idea of carpets in a tent but couldn't be without it now!

I'm undecided between this one and the Outwell Virginia 5. We've looked at both and I prefer the Outwell, although there is only me, DH and our DS. You do get more bedroom space in the Vango and if we had more children then I'd go for that.

We've never camped as a family before so these two tents are ideal in terms of price as a starter tent.

its so hard deciding we have a cheapy B&Q tent which just isn't going to cut it for more than festival camping, we need living space.
