Camping

Me and DD are going alone

I am taking DD (3yo) camping alone for a couple of days in August. A little nervous (but also v excited) as never camped without another adult before.

I got the Quechua Family Tent Base Seconds 4.1 which should be arriving this week, so will be practising putting it up and down.

Any tips for a lone camper with little one?

My only advice would be to make sure you visit the toilets just before DD goes to bed. I camped with DD when she was 4 - she was worn out about 6.30, so i put her to bed.. then realised the toilets were miles away and I daren't leave her alone in the tent while I walked there and back [PFB emoticon]. I had to wait until VERY late and then wee behind the tent Blush.

Yes, pitch close-ish to the toilet, DS who is 5 needs to go the minute he wakes up and a dash across the campsite first thing is not the best way to start the day. Also, don't get a pitch next to a play area, there will be kids there til at least 10.30, screeching.

Other than that, have a great time. I go with my 5yo and 3yo and it's exhausting but i love it!

Take a bucket. It's peace of mind. with a lid.

Was thinking of taking a potty, but a bucket with a lid is far more sensible!
