Vango nitestar baby and a dummy??

Hi all, I have spent a most pleasant afternoon buying camping gear to go with our new tent, but am a bit flummoxed about the sleeping arrangements for the 1yo. I'm tempted by the vango nitestar baby, but ds2 will not easily go to sleep without his dummy.

To anyone who has ever had one, can they get their arms up to their faces? Or does him sleeping like that defeat the object, meaning he'd be better off with fleeces, grobag and blankets?

TIA (loving the camping section by the way, I shall drop by more often).

We use the nitestar. What we have found works best is to place DD in a 1 tog gro bag (and then sometimes we put her to fall asleep in the pram as otherwise she gets up!). We then transfer her to the nitestar later still in the grobag and can leave that pulled down a bit if that makes sense. Plus it means if she wriggles out of the nitestar she's still got a cover on.

Thanks mathsgeek, sounds like an option.

have just measured ours, it's about 60cm wide at the top and there are zips on both sides so you could zip it down a bit and tuck it under? DS1 (17 mths) loves his, he is just one cosy little bundle in it in the morning with his bum sticking up in the air. HTH

Thanks very much for measuring, sounds like it's a goer.

We've just come back from a week in Devon with our 14 month old DD and I didn't find the nitestar very useful at all so have just put it on ebay. It was fine for my DS as he didn't move around much but DD is all over the place and so was out of it within minutes. We used it last year when she was only a couple of months old and it was great but this time it just didn't work. We're going camping again in a couple of weeks and I'm going to put her in a fleecy sleepsuit and a grobag type sleeping bag instead. I'll probably put a blanket over her as well but that will no doubt be thrown off!

I had to put her to sleep in the pushchair too as she kept trying to open the zips on the inner tent and didn't seem to like such an open space - goes to sleep absolutely fine in her cot but put her in a tent and its a whole different story!

Would def be fine to get arm to face as the opening is pretty wide
