Stripped-down packing list for Latitude - can someone check I haven't forgotten something vital?

I know I posted this somewhere in the 'glass of wine' thread, but as I'm going tomorrow I'm now having a panic that I have forgotten something in my attempts to be lightweight/not bury DD on the back seat with extraneous items.

Please could you lovely lot run your eye over it and make sure I've thought of everything/is there stuff here I don't need?

Would not take food to a festival normally but last year DD would not eat anything but sausage in a bun for 5 days, so am packing cereal/breakfast/sarnies ingredients.

Currently lined up on the dining table are:

Tent (with pegs, mallet, peg-extractor in bag)
Folding table
Folding cupboard
sleeping bags
SIMs
pillows
washing up bowl containing cereal, hot choc, teabags, loaf, insulated butterdish, eggs & biscuits/cake/pringles supplies
Collapsible crate (for shoes once we get there) containing:

  • Trangia (itself containing 2 pans, frypan & teeny tiny kettle)
  • Trangia fuel bottle
  • cutlery roll
  • plates, bowls, mugs, glasses
  • cooking utensils
  • coffee pot & coffee
  • collapsible water carrier
  • washing up liquid, bin bags, scourer
  • fire blanket

Pop up bin
2 mini boxes containing:
  • earplugs
  • eyemask (I can't sleep without either)
  • mini torch
  • first aid kit/plasters/bite cream

coolbox containing winebag, sausages, bacon, milk, cheese, cuke, tomatoes, yogurts & ham
windbreak
washbag, wipes, dry shampoo
cushions stuffed with clothing & 1 microtowel (DH likes to rough it en festival and DD hates showering, so it's only me that'll be braving the showers!)
lanterns x 3
solar fairy lights (and the tealight chandelier that I've had for ages) :)
flag & flagpole (because we're not going to be the only bell tent there, I guarantee it...)
small folding box with DD's stuff (colouring, cuddlies etc)
rucksack with footwear, little water bottles & DD's ear protectors in it
picnic blanket
lidded bucket with traveljohns inside for emergency night time weeing
tickets, money....:)

garden cart to lug it from car to campsite

Now... I haven't put chairs on the list because I am in 2 minds as to what to do. We have trad. cheapo camping chairs, moonchairs and also some things called 'festival chairs' which i bought from Tesco as last year our aged backs began hurting during prolonged periods of sitting watching various cultural extravaganza. The moonchairs are out because of size, but do you think I should take the festival chairs and the normal chairs? The festival chairs are v. low down on the ground, so prob not good for sitting around drinking wine at night...

Also, I was thinking, if we have room, of taking the pop-up gazebo along simply to create some space in front/next to the tent and parking the table/cooking stuff in there. My sister & family are also coming with their humungous tunnel tent, so the idea was to create a little enclave that hopefully won't end up with some bugger parking his tent in the middle of it overnight... Or is this a rubbish idea/doomed to failure?

And if you made it to the end of that, have a meths on me! Wine :o

Are you allowed to take your Trangia? I was at a festival at the weekend and only solid fuel was allowed. I took disposable cutlery and bowls as I didn't want to wash up!

Is that really a stripped down list?

Blimey in ten years of camping I've never taken half the stuff on that list. But if you think you can get it all from the car to the camping area then go for it.

loo roll? kitchen roll? suntan lotion? cold drinks? Just al part of my permanent camping list!

So what would you take, Viva? Seriously, I cannot do minimal camping and it drives DH up the wall, so any hints on what to leave out would be welcome :)

Trangia is allowed, as are small gas bottles. Yes! Suntan lotion & Loo roll - festival essentials!! :o

Why is this now in discussions of the day? Is it that slow elsewhere on the board...? Confused Blush

lovecat matey would you like me to strip you down as it were? There's tonnes of stuff there you can jettison.

I mean the folding cupboard for a start....

And JEEZ LOUISE fairy lights and the chandelier?

WHERE IS THE FIRE BUCKET ON THAT LIST EH??????

I'd probably leave out the folding wardrobe and the table. Latitude is only for a few days ins't it? You can eat on your knees. Mmmmm I'd leave out the fairy lights and the chandalier. Sorry I know you have a bell tent which is fab and that stuff is great when you can park the car next to the tent and not have to make umpteen trips back and forth.

I've never had to use a mallet of a tent peg extraction thing in years of camping. Nor do I take utensils with me. If I'm cooking I use the cutlery to stir stuff round in the pan with. I'd take a jar of nescafe and leave the coffee pot. I wouldn't take 3 lanterns.

By camping festival list is like this;

decathalon pop up tent
bag of clothes
baby wipes
money
torch
sleeping bag

But I am a heathen. Grin

And maybe if I was pushing the boat out I'd take a pack of cheese and onion rolls and a box of cereal bars.

:o notwaving

Slubber - MY FIRE BUCKET IS THE LIDDED BUCKET IT IS ONLY FOR NIGHT-TIME WEES!!!

It's not a folding wardrobe (even I'm not that bad!), it's a teeny tiny camping cupboard to stash the food in... takes up about an inch in height and 15 ins square when packed flat.

Having a bell tent means you have no stash space whatsoever and I like a tidy tent (see guides thread...:o) We are there for 4 days and if I didn't take a bit of storage it would have descended into bedlam by Friday night!

I think if you still have room by the time everything including the festival chairs but bar the gazebo has gone in you should put in the camping chairs. Otherwise, not. Actually, as an alternative to the gazebo, you could take a tarp, say like a Decathlon one for about £20. They create extra space and pack up tiny - a gazebo is quite a hefty piece of kit to haul across a field...

not sure you'll need a windbreak... not been to Latitude but generally tents quite packedclose together at festivals.. so windbreak not needed....

on the chairs would take the little ones or the camping ones only -not both... lots of people with camping chairs at festivals or just picnic rug when out and about.....
.... dont think you need a gazebo either... if you camp at angles (technical term!) to each other you should have plenty of space in front of both tents for drinking wine resting..

Please don't take camping chairs and then use them in the actual festival. I want to smack middle aged farts who do this.

Are you packing dental floss? I always pack this whenever I go anywhere. Not for flossing my teeth but as super strong washing line, to tie round luggage/bags, etc etc plus it's got a built in cutter.

pffft did I say wardrobe mrs? and why are you telling me its dimensions in inches? Are you in your 60s? Why can't you keep your whatever it is you put in your cupboard in the recepticle you transported it in in the car? See I have saved you a 1 inch x 15 inch space already Grin.

Take one chair per pair of buttocks.

Get rid of water carrier. Use 2l bottle and refill as and when.

Do you need mugs AND glasses? both hold fluid perfectly well and wine out of a mug is kind of living on the edge a bit.

Now this insulated butterdish...really?

gazebo - no
box with dds stuff - no
footwear - no, just go with whatever is on your feet
picnic blanket - no
tomatoes - no
windbreak - no
plates - no, just use the bowls
pop up bin - no

heh heh
this is fun

all that lighting bobbins bar one lantern - no
scourer - no

wee bucket cum fire bucket can stay obviously Smile
