So if these are the prices, and we're not members, I'll need to pay per adult and child, and then an additional £7.10 per night?

I joined as there is only me and dd. So then a rate like that is quote good, we'd pay thirteen pound a night.

I guess also I'm thinking that it's £39 for a year's membership and I don't think we'll go camping more than once this year. We might squeeze in another one next year before it ran out, but that's a big if.

I just want someone to explain their magazine to me in words of 1 syllable... how the fuck does the back bit of it work? Having read the guidance several times I'm still befuddled. Can you turn up to any region's meeting or do you need to be in their region? If it doesn't say pupn does that mean it's the price for the entire week, or have they just forgotten to say? What's a HWE?

And what, pray tell, is a Festival of Lanterns?? That just sounds freaky ...

Lovecat it's a mystery to me too. I have it by the loo and flick through most days to see if I can suss out how it works.

My current method, as used this very morning, is to go onto the c&cc site seeker page on the website. Put in the radius of how far you want to travel from home, wait for all the sites to load, then close your eyes and stick your finger on the screen. Phone site you have picked. Book.

So tomorrow night we are off to Ruthin!

Yes.

C&CC list three different sorts of sites in their Big Book, Club Sites, Listed Sites and Certificated Sites.

Club Sites belong to and are managed by the club. They tend be bigger and a bit more all singing and all dancing but the 'rules' (like the 6m rule, and quiet after 11pm) will be strictly adhered to. You do not have to be a member to stay but will get a price reduction.

Listed sites are (as far as I can work out) just a private site that has paid to be listed in the book. You do not have to be a member to go and do not get a price reduction for being a mamber.

Certificated sites tend to be much smaller and much much more basic, usually just a field and you will often see a restriction of 5 'units' ( usually caravans) although if there is space they will fit tents in. You have to be a member to stay there (so they say).

We are going to a certificated site. I think there is one loo, a sink and a tap and that is it. There won't even be a person there when we arrive. The owner has hidden the key to the loo somewhere!
