Have you looked in TKMAxx? My local one often has them quite cheap.

I haver this alpkit one for daring mountaineering adventures walking around family campsites in the dark and reading in the tent. Is very light and cheap. I have had many headtorches over the years, and this is by far the best.

Another vote for alpkit, they are very good.

I use it for winter running as well, really very bright.

Decathlon normally have a reasonable range.

I have a very good head torch that I got from a cycling shop, however, I can't use it to read by as it irritates me immensely!

So I use a clip-on reading light that I bought in Wilkos (with the travel stuff) for £1.98, I got one for our last trip and DH annexed it, as it was better than the £££ one I'd bought him for Christmas! <grrr> So now I have several. They come with battery included and are really handy.

I got a £1.80ish one from home bargains.

Its great and dh says its better than his £££ fishing one.

I don't need one anymore because I've got a Kindle with a cover with a built in light. <preens smugly>
