Good family friendly campsite between Herefordshire and Yorkshire?

OK so I appreciate this is a big geographical area!

Basically we are staying at my parents in Herefordshire this summer and would like somewhere to camp for about 3-4 days on the way back home in the North East. But not so close that we could easily go for a weekend anytime.

The ideal site should have some fun stuff for the kids (open minded on whether this is back to basics fun or more organised stuff), flat spacious pitches (so not on top of each other really) with clean and plentiful toilet / shower facilities. No need for EHU or too many other mod cons. Campfires / BBQs allowed would be a bonus and water (whether thats beaches / river / lake etc) a BIG bonus.

Any top tips?

We stayed near Rutland Water at half term here.

We liked it. UKCampsite reviews way too picky in my opinion. You have to work around the slightly random wash facilities (always clean, just randomly located). Lots of space, clean, cafe, chickens. Ask for the top field by road (v. quiet) with no EHU.

Also in Derbyshire..........almost anywhere! Beautiful.
This site was nice last August Bank Holiday.....

Stayed at the Hartington Hall Youth Hostel in Easter hols - really nice area too if there are any good campsites round there (or if you collect Tesco clubcard vouchers try the youth hostel itself for less than the cost of a campsite).

Thanks a lot! They both look good so much appreciated. Always nicer to have personal recommendations as its often hard to tell from websites how nice somewhere is
