you lot have got me lusting over bell tents again (dh is rolling his eyes at me as we are broke, but I can dream)

But check out this site- and this tent. If it had a sig it would be amazing smile

www.albioncanvas.co.uk/nomad-tents/moorish-tent.html

I dread to think how expensive these are-especially the huge yurt!

Obelink.nl have a sale on ATM which is tempting as we have a friend living over there-dh doesn't see the inevitability of it all grin

SeaShellsHasSandInHerShoes Wed 15-Jun-11 19:41:02

Oh hell it sells a "twiggy vase" for £39.95 someone turn Slubber awayfrom this thread before she hyperventilates wink

SeaShellsHasSandInHerShoes Wed 15-Jun-11 19:53:26

I know we don't like the company here but this tent is lovely

Slubberdegullion Wed 15-Jun-11 20:09:33

Eighty six whole pounds for a chuffing windbreak?

Are

They

Having

A

Laugh

?

<wanders off muttering about how the perfection of canvas as a tent material has been hijacked by pedlars nonsense>

SeaShellsHasSandInHerShoes Wed 15-Jun-11 20:17:17

I spotted that!!!

Unbelievable!

That Dutch site looks v good though-if we visit our friend next year I might sneak one in (and one of the kitchen units)

SeaShellsHasSandInHerShoes Wed 15-Jun-11 20:18:22

Sorry, obelink.nl or similar

Slubberdegullion Wed 15-Jun-11 20:33:18

yy obelink is meant to be v good, as are the de waard and esvo stores.

Cannot be doing with all the lifestyle bilge that goes with the UK bell tent companies. Bog off, it's just a freaking bit of fabric to kip under fgs.

<ruins nice vibe on thread with nowtyness>

Slubberdegullion Wed 15-Jun-11 20:35:53

Not you bog off SeaShells obv.

You are lovely.

Bog off bell tent sellers.

MisSalLaneous Wed 15-Jun-11 21:03:50

Can't get my head around that tent, Seashells. Looks lovely from outside, but I can't imagine space inside. It looks really low, but then again, is 2m high according to specs. Would love to walk around field full of canvas tents one day, inspecting insides, drooling as I go along.

Slubberdegullion Wed 15-Jun-11 21:10:55

The Moorish one is very similar to a pyramid in design, so central pole but then the door opened out on poles. I bet the central pole is 2m, which is roughly similar to ours.

I bet it is lovely inside too.

SeaShellsHasSandInHerShoes Wed 15-Jun-11 21:13:34

I know, I have no idea what the inside would be like, I just live the silhouette <ponce>

Where did you get yours from? Obelink have a sale on at the moment, but dh is being firm...

MisSalLaneous Wed 15-Jun-11 21:22:58

Ours is Obelink too, I'm very jealous of you have the perfect excuse to visit. If you can, visit the store and drag ask dh with. It's just SO different seeing them in person, isn't it?! You really won't regret it.

SeaShellsHasSandInHerShoes Wed 15-Jun-11 21:41:31

I think I may suddenly be developing an urge to see our friend and the wonders of the flat land wink

If a windbreak is that much on the Albion site, I dread to think how much an actual tent is, However pretty it is.

MisSalLaneous Wed 15-Jun-11 21:57:42

That's what a good friend will do. wink

Yes re Albion. I think their quality is very very good, but of course would add weight. Out of my league on both accounts.

Slubberdegullion Wed 15-Jun-11 21:59:59

look at this cool one from esvo

Not seen one like that before. I like it.

needanewname Wed 15-Jun-11 22:30:57

Obelink is wonderful!

MisSal did warn me that I'd need lots of time, unfortunately I didn't listen! If you do go, given yourselves several hours - that place is massive (I also might have a couple of people willing to split the cost of the journey with you if you go!!!)

Obelink also do the Emporer, it was in their show room when w wee there last year and it is massive and beautiful. If they'd had the SIG/ZIG last year we'd have got it.

And don't tell your DH but that isn't a real sale at Obelink - we bought our Sahara 500UL last Oct for 425, but if you can get him there on the basis its a sale - go for it!

MisSalLaneous Wed 15-Jun-11 22:43:02

hey needanewname, we should all run off and go there again, spending the weekend day testing out all their camping equipment, having a lie down in the tents, ... grin

needanewname Wed 15-Jun-11 22:44:32

LOl - I'm up for it - when shall we go?!

MisSalLaneous Wed 15-Jun-11 22:47:33

grin

NettleTea Wed 15-Jun-11 22:52:14

Albion canvas are great, the guy who runs it is called Alan and he really knows his canvas! They are making our geodesic domes for our (shhh dont tell anyone) 'glamping' campsite.

I just bought a De Waard Albatros. I am almost wetting myself with excitement!

needanewname Wed 15-Jun-11 22:56:12

Oooh Nettle - where's your campsite? Will you allow fires? When can we all come?!

MisSalLaneous Wed 15-Jun-11 22:56:49

Oh my word! They are absolutely beautiful.

MisSalLaneous Wed 15-Jun-11 23:02:30

Yes, yes, please tell us!

QueeferSutherland Wed 15-Jun-11 23:05:45

<rubs hands on thighs>

<drools a little>

MollieO Wed 15-Jun-11 23:17:04

Why does it say on the Esvo site that the tent "must be aired at short notice"? Do you have to pretend you're doing something else and then put the tent up really quickly so there is an element of surprise? Or am I overthinking this and there is a mistranslation?
