you lot have got me lusting over bell tents again (dh is rolling his eyes at me as we are broke, but I can dream)

But check out this site- and this tent. If it had a sig it would be amazing :)

I dread to think how expensive these are-especially the huge yurt!

Obelink.nl have a sale on ATM which is tempting as we have a friend living over there-dh doesn't see the inevitability of it all Grin

yy obelink is meant to be v good, as are the de waard and esvo stores.

Cannot be doing with all the lifestyle bilge that goes with the UK bell tent companies. Bog off, it's just a freaking bit of fabric to kip under fgs.

Can't get my head around that tent, Seashells. Looks lovely from outside, but I can't imagine space inside. It looks really low, but then again, is 2m high according to specs. Would love to walk around field full of canvas tents one day, inspecting insides, drooling as I go along.

The Moorish one is very similar to a pyramid in design, so central pole but then the door opened out on poles. I bet the central pole is 2m, which is roughly similar to ours.

I bet it is lovely inside too.

I know, I have no idea what the inside would be like, I just live the silhouette

Where did you get yours from? Obelink have a sale on at the moment, but dh is being firm...

Ours is Obelink too, I'm very jealous of you have the perfect excuse to visit. If you can, visit the store and drag ask dh with. It's just SO different seeing them in person, isn't it?! You really won't regret it.

I think I may suddenly be developing an urge to see our friend and the wonders of the flat land Wink

If a windbreak is that much on the Albion site, I dread to think how much an actual tent is, However pretty it is.

That's what a good friend will do. Wink

Yes re Albion. I think their quality is very very good, but of course would add weight. Out of my league on both accounts.

Obelink is wonderful!

MisSal did warn me that I'd need lots of time, unfortunately I didn't listen! If you do go, given yourselves several hours - that place is massive (I also might have a couple of people willing to split the cost of the journey with you if you go!!!)

Obelink also do the Emporer, it was in their show room when w wee there last year and it is massive and beautiful. If they'd had the SIG/ZIG last year we'd have got it.

And don't tell your DH but that isn't a real sale at Obelink - we bought our Sahara 500UL last Oct for 425, but if you can get him there on the basis its a sale - go for it!

Albion canvas are great, the guy who runs it is called Alan and he really knows his canvas! They are making our geodesic domes for our (shhh dont tell anyone) 'glamping' campsite.

I just bought a De Waard Albatros. I am almost wetting myself with excitement!

Why does it say on the Esvo site that the tent "must be aired at short notice"? Do you have to pretend you're doing something else and then put the tent up really quickly so there is an element of surprise? Or am I overthinking this and there is a mistranslation?

Report
Milliways · 15/06/2011 23:18

Do you lot like Wigwams?

There is always one where we camp, and we went inside to have a look and couldn't believe the space - and the heat from the woodburning stove inside
