here

Open the shiny saucepan.

Remove gubbins

The legs go in click click click click

The gas cylinder goes in. Turn and click.

Turn knob. Press knob. Click and whoooooooooooomszsvsvsvsvsvsvsvsv [gas burning noise]

Put handle into saucepan click

And away you go.

The saucepan lid can actually click down onto the pan and is has little sieve holes in so you can drain away freely and casually with one hand and quaff wine with the other.

So big old stove is OUT. stove legs are OUT. Massive gas bottle that is a bastard to pack OUT. Natty bag of multiple self stacking saucepans OUT. Sieve is so out it is not true.

My saucepan is way shinier than the one in the link.

Think polished stainless steel rather than burnished chrome.

AND the saucepan goes in a little blue carry bag with a toggle, thus preventing packing scratches.

I love it - I'm ready to ditch my camping Gaz double stove & massive gas bottle.....but how do you make toast?!

Report
AuraofDora · 10/06/2011 10:39

looks cool but limited to no frying, one pot meals, unless you have two of them! I liked your sound effects though!

Slubberdegullion · 10/06/2011 12:51

toast! TOAST!

You don't need toast when you are camping wriggly. Toast is for losers and the weak. Embrace bread.

Aura, this is to complement the Cobb so have two pans/ frying angle covered.

I really like that!

Can you use a kettle with it?

Report
Slubberdegullion · 10/06/2011 13:03

You can. Shiny saucepan use is not mandatory.

Ah, I see..interesting you can use other shiny cooking pans and kettles with it

Have sent the link to DH ..he is besotted with his 40 year old Coleman, yes you read that right, running on unleaded petrol..I need alternatives, and fast before we all explode in a field oneday-- and have suggested we could have one of these each!

Slub, toast is the only way to eat beans according to my kids! Now you have got me looking at the campingaz duo grill....why do I ever look at these threads?!

Laughing at SLUB and her toast offensive.
We ate loads of toast when we were caravining for 10 days over half term.
What poncey alternatives do you have then slubby ? Wink

Aura, I'm actually a bit of a closet fan of those Coleman stoves. Not that I have one, but I admire all the priming and twiddling about that they require. And a 40 year old one too, no no you can't get rid of that.

The bivouac thing is instead of a stove. For lighter trips. Can you work on that angle?

wriggly, just put the beans on the bread and cover it up. If you leave beans on toast for long enough the toast reverts to its bread like state pretty much anyway.

saurus, hope you enjoy it as much as I am doing. I keep turning it on, just because I can, and taking the legs on and off.

yeah well Oblomov toast in caravans says it all really.

Here I am in my cahaaaravaaaan toasting my multigrain bread while I sit on my corner lounge seat here adjusting my curtains.

I don't do ponce alternatives. I do HARD alternatives. Warm up a ryveta under each armpit, mini toast on the go.

angle received n understood

I know, would never be given the heave-ho you understand, tis a relic and to be donated and admired twice yearly in the Muncipal Museum of Campings our loft..it was his parent's before his..
I am just too feart to have a go, nearly takes the 'brows and any fringe you have have right off ya..
It does ensure a bit of space in the more popular cramped sites!

But the sense of satisfaction you would get when it was all up and running and not blowing up.

The turn and click camping gaz bottles are obviously super easy breezy but there is no technical challenge to them, no accomplishment that you have MADE FIRE that you would get with the Coleman.

oh slub, you are hard-core. yes truely. whilst i ponce around in me caravan, pouring another glass of rose, cooking risotto on me cadac, whilst you, oh hard-core, true camper, ruff it, like a good-un.

I ought to stay off these threads really. am not worthy. Wink

Hahaha oh Oblomov. I'm not hard core really. I like a glass of Rose and a risotto as much as the next woman.

I'm sorry for teasing you about your caravan. i'm sure eating toast in it is lovely.

its o.k. I enjoy the ribbing. I can take it.
I quite like the fact that us caravaners are concsidered a bit too non-hard-core-enough for true tenters. makes for good banter.

Did I tell you that I had toast with :
i)for ds's egg and soldiers, because i also have two eggcups.
ii)2 days x full monty breakfasts with sausages, bacon, hash browns, baked beans, tomatoes, mushrooms, fried eggs, And the 'TOAST'.
iii)Baked beans on toast for ds's lunch.
iv)I also made toast at 11pm, to go with some brie and camenbert, to share with our lovely airstream caravaning neighbours , over two bottles of wine, becasue we realised neither of us had any crackers.

Can I tempt you anymore ?

Slubberdegullion · 10/06/2011 18:23

Indeed. There is not enough tent vs van banter on here.

There's only so much ammunition you can have with a cadac, but caravans have got LOADS.

I especially love the folk who have to reverse their caravans in by remote control as they can't do it using the car. oh how I judge and judge silently from the safety of my tent porch.

Right back atcha Oblomov

Last week, on the Cobb, under the tarp looking at the VIEW and not chintzy curtains I made:
pancakes
Scrambled egg with roasted mushrooms and tomatoes
Steak sandwiches on soft White bloomers
gammon steak sandwiches on pre mentioned bloomers.

No toast.

Toast not needed nor missed.

Toast less and toast free we were. We revelled in our freedom from cruchy bread products.

Grin that'll be my parents, slubbers, with their swanky remote

I particularly enjoy peering out over the rain-soaked campers from the comfort of my warm bed whilst supping a steaming mug of tea, having peed in the ensuite loo.

I'm laughing at what toast ever did to you, to warrant such verment ......
Mrs Bucket, oh yardy, we had steak rolls darling, but we never lower ourselves to toast.

Report
ChippyMinton · 10/06/2011 18:33

maybe she thinks toast if made from stale bread?
You got an electric toaster?

Report
Oblomov · 10/06/2011 18:36

Yes, in my huge more than triple kingsize bed, with my duvet. getting up for a wee in the middle of the night.
or you just wake up in a pile of piss, where the rain has leaked in all night ?
or do you actually wake up in your tent ? you don't find you wake up elsewhere on the campsite, having floated off, in the middle of the night.
no ?

No trouble with my dh's reversing in skills.never has been. prior to our caravan !!
