Help a camping novice please... is this tent worth getting?

Hello camping-wise folk

We're thinking about getting a tent and all that goes with it.

I saw this offer in Millets yesterday.

Is it a good tent? Worth the price?

And if it's not a good one, what would be recommend. I wouldn't want to spend more than £300....

Thank you!

yup, looks pretty good. Vango is a good make and I like the combination of steel and fibreglass poles.

have you price checked it elsewhere on the web?

It doesn't mention the hydrostatic head (HH). For that price I would want something of 3000.

Not bad, but I agree with Subber re hydrostatic head.

Is there a cotswold near you? They're much more knowledgeable than millets staff and will spend the day putting up tents for your entertainment!

My personal favourite is the Outwell Montana 6 but it's a bit pricey.

The other Outwells are good too. Beware a tunnel tent will be less stable than a geodesic design.

Is the HH the 'waterproofness' blush? That was 3000.

Are there geodesic tents for the same kind of price?

Thanks for the advice....

yy HH = waterproofness.

careful you don't mix up geodesic with a multi pod design.

i concur about the Cotswold staff being v knowledgable.

Just to mention if you are a novice, as I was, tunnel tents like the one you have linked are generally easier to erect.

Vango, Gelert and Outwell are all good makes. I would try to get to a proper camping store and look at erected tents even if you don't buy from them in the end. It will give you a better idea of space and lay out.

Also £300 should be plenty to buy a decent tent with.
