Noom vs MyFitnessPal

Hi all

Around 2 Stone in weight to lose and trying to decide how to do it. Has anyone used Noom and my fitness pal and any insight into which is best?

I’ve read reviews of Noom online but they all seem to be marketing pieces.

Does anyone have any real info on how good Noom is in practise or if it’s just a expensive my fitness pal?

I’m using Noom at the minute. Did the 2 week free trial and I’ve lost 5lb. Just paid £99 for 4 months which is extortion but if it works I’m prepared to pay it. It gives you lots of psychology articles to read and daily hints and tips, and you have a coach and a group of people at the same stage of you to talk to. The barcode scanner for logging food isn’t as good as MFP I don’t think, but you can add your own easily enough.

I’ve used Noom. So far I’ve lost 3 stone.

It’s pretty good. I got the most benefit at the beginning, as it gave sensible diet and self-help advice. After a few months I stopped using it. I still have a few weeks left on my subscription.

The main drawback of Noom is that it’s very US centric. The food tracker has very few UK foods. And the personal trainer feels limited and not very useful.

However the psychology side of Noom is great. Really great. It got me motivated in weight loss and, while I’ve stopped using it, I think my high motivation is due in part to Noom. I’d say it’s worth a go.

Now however I’m just using MyFitnessPal and MyWellness (for the gym).
