Anyone tried the one meal a day diet?

I've been doing it for a week & lost 6lbs. It suits me quite well with a 7 month old, minimal prep & time. Anyone done it long term what was your weight loss in how long? I want to lose another 2 stone by June.
Thanks

One meal a day?

WHY?

Seriously, why?

Not surprised you’re losing weight! How many calories are you consuming in a day?

Approx 800-900. I always have salad (spinach leaves, onion, avocado, tomato) then try & get the rest of what I need in the remainder. Haven't cut out carbs, I still have pasta with pesto, rice etc... what ever I fancy within reason really.

900 calories per meal! That sounds hideous. No I haven't tried it and no I don't intend to.

Why does it sound hideous?

Actually I've just worked out tonight's meal & it's more like 500 cals not including the salad.

I do something similar - eat under 1000 calories and do intermittent fasting, so don’t have breakfast or lunch but then eat in the evening. I have lost weight, it’s easy and I’m much healthier as I can enjoy a good balanced meal at night instead of grabbing stuff on the go. Some funny responses here. Reddit has a really good intermittent fasting subreddit if you would like support. If it works for you, go for it. Lots of people eat much more than they should.

Sounds like 5:2 fasting, albeit more calories. Well documented that it is a v successful approach and lots of people lose and keep weight off with it.

If it's working, crack on I say Smile

There is literally no need whatsoever to restrict yourself to 500 calories a DAY.

canoe how long have you been doing it for & how much have you lose (or do you lose per week) if you don't mind me asking?
It's just much easier for me this way, I'm lazy. I don't want to buy, prep, think about 3 healthy meals + snacks & see the scales drop a pound every 2 weeks!! This works well for me I don't get very hungry during the day my daughter keeps me busy then I have a big meal that more than satisfys me at night. I done the same thing before I was pregnant & lost 3 stone but obviously stopped whilst pregnant & put 2 stone on (I was eating like a pig so no surprise)

Do you eat fruit/snacks or completely fast until the evening?

Ilovemybaby91 · 09/02/2018 18:54

lettucepray I literally eat what ever I want as long as it's around 800-900cals & always have salad to. Only drink water... if I'm really hungry in the day I'd have a piece of fruit (only happened once in a week) so just have your normal meal of an evening & fast during the day... be surprised how quickly you adapt I was only really hungry on day 1.

It's normally more greed than hunger!! When you see someone chomping a biscuit or crisps you think I'm sooo hungry! You have to fight the greed!! Lol!! Grin

I did that once, but then again, I had an eating disorder.

It's not sustainable, and you will put on a ton of weight when you stop - which is besides the point. Try other types of IF that are sustainable.

I have tried intermittent fasting but I get very nauseous and light headed. So as long as eating under 1,000 calories anything goes?

I do it regularly alongside low carb. Feel totally fine and much healthier as I'm now much lighter and not mindlessly eating. Its a different mindset to move away from the 'three meals a day' mandated idea. Also love the lack of meal prep and dishes.

donedisap I have done it before & although I've gained that was through my own diet nothing else. I think this 'gain like crazy' when you stop isn't true. It wasn't in my case anyway... not saying it would be that way for everyone

Me too tipsey it's so easy to follow! & if you have arrangements say to meet people for lunch.. it's easy you just make that your meal for the day instead... lettuce I've always stood by it's less what you eat but how much of it... if you are a cheeseburger every day & only a cheeseburger you'd still lose weight! Obviously wouldn't reccomend that you'd be hungry lol.. splitting 1000 cals into 3 satisfying meals might be tough though maybe try 2 if you get dizzy? Breakfast & dinner?

This is a type of intermittent fasting which has been shown to have some health benefits and suits a lot of people, but not everyone. The calorie level you are on is similar to the blood sugar diet. It is very low calories and you will lose weight fast. Try to stay at the higher calories level (800) most days and I would say just be careful you are getting a very healthy meal and plenty to drink. Maybe take a vitamin supplement as well.

Sounds like an eating disorder to me. I couldn’t manage it with a baby.

The best thing for weight lose IMO is decent a exercise routine.
